GUNDAY Movie Review: Gunday Is All About Unbeatable Emotional Bonding Between Two Friends, And About Their Courage And Survival In Hard Time, A Nice Valentine's Gift From Yash Raj Films.

19:33 Action, ALI ABBAS ZAFAR, Arjun Kapoor, Bollywood Movie Reviews,Crime, Drama, Gunday 2014, GUNDAY Movie Review, Irfan Khan, Priyanka Chopra,Ranveer Singh No comments
GUNDAY stars were in Dubai on 11th Feb Wednesday for its world premiere at Meydan IMax. I also feel like a star to watch the film two days earlier from the audiences, that too in Dubai. But you guys don't worry i have bought a gift for you from Dubai and that is Gunday film review. So just celebrates friendship this Valentine's with Gunday, which is an crime thriller film written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra from Yash Raj banner. The film will feature Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles while Priyanka Chopra and Irfan Khan appear in supporting roles. The film, starts off in the 1970s, with a young Bikram and Bala, who live on the wrong side of the law, becoming gun carriers and coal bandits. The film is set to release on 14 February 2014 With the Music of- Sohail Sen.

PLOT: It starts from the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War resulting in the separation of the region from Pakistan, which gave birth to an independent Bangladesh. The two young orphans Vikram and Bala were refugees then and they witnessed it all. They battled each and every day for their living and finally ventured into Kolkata (earlier known as Calcutta) to find a work space in a coal field and ultimately to become the coal bandits. The Kolkatians swear over their indestructible friendship and tout them as the most powerful and fearless goons of the city. On the other hand, they fear none but Nandita (Priyanka Chopra), a cabaret dancer, they are in love with. Between all this romance, a cunning officer ACP Satyajeet Sarkar (Irrfan Khan) is plotting his net to trap Gundays and wants to end their world of black market.

How their friendship survives through all this, is the tale the director narrates in this flick. Ali Abbas Zafar might not be applauded for his debut flick Mere Brother Ki Dulhan but this time he gets his share of praise for creating Gunday.Though the film is fast-paced, but its characters are more powerful than the flick. The scenes have vitality, which tempts you. The fearless duo of Ranveer-Arjun jumps over the sequences with high energy allowing the viewers to celebrate their friendship and courage. Their romance hit by the entrance of Priyanka tickles your funny bone at the same time.

DIRECTION:
Many Bollywood films have shown us about the bonding of friendship, the feeling and the emotions in various shades. And now director Ali Abbas Zafar has come up with the same kind of plot but in his different way. Gunday is not just about goons and their struggle to rein Calcutta, but is also about the unbeatable emotional bonding between the male protagonists, which is more intense than any other relationship. With Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, he resurrects friends for life emotion in an unusual manner.

Gunday is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar started working withYash Raj Films, where he worked as an assistant director under directors like Sanjay Gadhvi and Vijay Krishna Acharya. Than Zafar made his debut as a director with the YRF hit Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) which starred Imran Khan,Katrina Kaif, and Ali Zafar in the lead roles. His second project is Gunday, and i Must say he has done a brilliant job with the film. He has selected not only the perfect cast but also locations and music director. The film has everything which can entertain an audience

CHARACTER GRAPH:
Thing which makes Gunday perfect is it's the characters that win you over. Ranveer Singh who last year gave some of the passionate performances goes one step ahead. I must say he has improved a lots and in this film he is much better than Arjun Kapoor. His charms make you fallen love with him once again with humour and silent aggression. Arjun Kapoor, doesnt looks like that he has done just two films till now, he is quiet comfortable and will win your heart with his intense act. Both Arjun and Ranveer along with each other is a hard nut to crack, and looks like real Gunday. Priyanka Chopra is an eye candy. She brings down men to their knees as a cabaret dancer and is brilliant in her act. Irrfan Khan is playing as a clever cop, and as you all know he is a brilliant actor. In this film also he is mind blowing, who plays with minds and emotions of our protagonists, is razor-sharp. He is just tooo good

MUSIC: Music by Sohail Sen is high on energy. Almost all the tracks are wonderfully composed. My favourite one from the film is Saaiyan which captures Arjun and Priyanka's chemistry. Rest of the songs like Jiah, Jashn-E-Ishqa, Tune Mari Entriya are already the chartbusters. Julius Packiam adds the background score which perfectly adds to the scenes.

REVIEW:
The best part of the film is that it runs continuously never get slow and bored, and it has everything like perfect cast, melodious music, mind blowing actions, lovely romance, friendship bonding everything which are needed to allow audience to come to theater. Whereas in first half Ranveer and Arjun have already provided you ample amusement with their die-hard chemistry. The comedy, action and romance. The film takes an investigative shape in the second half and through this the test of their bonding in the climax is what is kept in accentuation. All this sets in the beautiful Kolkata where Ali and cinematographer Aseem Mishra outline some of its perfect settings in this flick. I must say its a Valentine's gift from Yash Raj Film, a must watch movie. Just book your tickets now and get ready to fallen in love with Gunday's on Valentine's day.

Gunday Review: First such Bromance after Sholay

For the first time in 40 years, it's as if the Jai-Veeru ishtyle bromance has been brought back on screen. Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh play the roles of the lovable bandits Bala and Bikram to perfection. Bollywood Celebden presents Gunday review.

Rating: 4/5

The story is set in the 1970s, in the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war of 1971; over the liberation of Bangladesh. The plot follows the lives of two orphans Bala and Bikram (played by Arjun and Ranveer respectively), who are caught up in the chaos that ensued post-war. The two are inseparable friends who come to West Bengal and grow up into the hunky adults that we saw in the trailer. The loop-hole perhaps is how two orphans became the hunky dudes with the chiseled bodies. Nevertheless, it is something that adds that element of larger than life' to it.

The two become coal thieves and are like the good-goons' in Kolkata; being well known and loved for their solidarity and camaraderie. They become the most influential Gundayin Kolkata.

Enter Nandita- the cabaret dancer played by Priyanka Chopra- who dances her way into their lives. The two fall in love with her and then a little healthy rivalry sets in; with comic moments ensuing. Right then, enter ACP Satyajeet Sarkar (played by none other than Irrfan Khan, who handles it with elan). How Bikram and Bala stick through all this forms the rest of the plot.

The everlasting friendship and the energetic bromance between the two, the light dash of romance and the dhansu dialogues and not to forget the high octane action- Gunday has everything in the right amount. The helmer Ali Abbas Zafar has outdone himself in his second directorial venture (if you compare his first film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan to this). The pace of the movie is perfect and the climax will leave everyone astounded.

The USP of the film is again, the bromance between the lead characters; something that is handled perfectly by the two actors. The two characters are completely different and yet the bond between them is unbreakable. Ranveer Singh has performed better than his performance in Ram Leela (which was his best so far) and Arjun Kapoor (who is appearing in a film for the second time) has set the bar higher up for himself. Their energy levels in the film are at an all time high. The other actors- Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan also did their part; though Priyanka seems more like a love interest than anything else. Irrfan plays this uber-cop who can even scare the audiences.

Sohail Sen's music in the film is apt and songs like Tune Maari Entriyaan are peppy and foot-tapping.

Verdict: Watch the film for the bromance and the action.
