Watched it Finally!!!
And I loved it...❤️
Okay first things first after reading the awesome reviews here..I was expecting Pari to be super..But I found SidM equally fantastic..You can call me biased but he is just brilliant is the movie..He has played the guy next door effortlessly..He gave me the young SRK feel in quite a few scenes....
And what should I say about Pari..She is someone to watch out for..for the movie lovers as well as her contmporaries..Simply Outstanding..She made me cry in the last scenes..
I read in some review about the song Ishq Bulava ..and its indeed the best thing in the movie..
Go for it guys who have not watched it yet..and are willing to..Its definitely worth it..👍🏼

If only HTP had a blockbuster album like YJHD, the movie would have got off to a better start and not relied so much on the WOM..Nonetheless, am glad it picked up..That woman who plays Sid's mom is a really good actress..She comes in this daily soap called YHM and has solid comic timing😆
P.S. I agree with those who said Sid was as good as Pari..Since the story revolved around Meetha, reviews tend to mention Parineeti more..But IMO, both were equally good..Am super surprised cos i had no opinion about Sid as an actor prior to HTP😆 If Alia does well with Highway, KJo might just have the last laugh and prove a point to all those who questioned his casting in SOTY😆

Hasee Toh Phasee: Movie Review. Parineeti charms you in Hasee Toh Phasee
Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra's ''Hasee Toh Phasee'' may not be an exceptional love story but it is a different take on urban romance. There is nothing unique in the story. The yarn has drawn inspiration from some of the earlier interesting films, where one character stays uncertain throughout and only makes a decision in the climax and in most cases it is nothing but love.

Film Surprises and Baffles Equally

Ad maker turned film director Vinil Mathew brings out the foibles, flaws and goof-ups of the endearing couple in the movie that makes it a refreshing rom-com. This Dharma Productions and Phantom Production's film has all the ingredients to make it an enjoyable watch, be it the strong script, talented actors, lead pair's chemistry and Vishal-Shekhar's music. The director has built a template of urban romance with an emotional core centred on it, which makes the film endearing to watch. The rom-com ''Hasee Toh Phasee'' has a love triangle as well as some emotional dysfunctional family drama and all this comes together to make it a fairly watchable film despite the irregular lapses. The film pleasantly surprises you as well as baffles you in equal proportion.

Spoiler''s Ahead

Nikhil (Sidharth Malhotra) a happy-go-lucky guy is the son of IPS officer S.B. Bharadwaj (Sharat Saxena). He is in love with Karishma (Adah Sharma), who comes from a conservative Gujarati family and is the daughter of Devesh (Manoj Joshi), a well-heeled businessman. Nikhil wants someone to fund his business that he even asks his girlfriend's dad to finance him once they are married. But apparently Karishma is not happy about it and asks him to get his own funding to start his event management company. Incidentally Karishma's estranged sister, Meeta (Parineeti Chopra), who had run away from home seven years ago after stealing jewellery to fund her education lands up at the time of the wedding celebrations. Now Karishma asks Nikhil to take care of her sister, so that no one in the family comes to know about it. So Nikhil helps Meeta to give up drugs. They share a close bonding of over 7 days which eventually changes their lives and leads them into falling in love.

Dialogues and Screenplay

Dialogues penned by Anurag Kashyap, Harshavardhan Kulkarni, Purva Naresh and Vinil Mathew, are witty and funny and the sheer detailing of the characters strike well. Some of the sequences are believable, for instance when Meeta blabbers and talks in Mandarin to her Chinese friend and Nikhil tries hard to get money for his event company. Story and screenplay by Harshavardhan Kulkarni is engaging and he has managed to keep the drama unpredictable especially to make it interesting when it unfolds. The script is flawed, yet the wads of interaction that the director gets out of his leads keep you interested.

Performance-wise Parineeti is the best. She never makes the audience vacillate when she's onscreen. She manages to charm you with her two avatars " a druggie genius and a lovable girl next door. Sidharth Malhotra matches up to Parineeti's performance with equal gusto. The major delights in the movie are Manoj Joshi and Sharat Saxena. They are brilliant despite minimal screen space. Adah Sharma delights you in her small role.

Bottom-line

Vinil Mathew's treatment makes ''Hasee Toh Phasee'' entertaining and refreshing.

Hasee Toh Phasee - Cool and witty
Vishal Verma, IndiaGlitz [Friday, February 07, 2014] 0 Comments

What is it all about?

This contemporary tale of commitment, love and romantisims is a first-class production spirited by some fabulous performances with fair deliverables to the heart though the 'addiction' to 'normal' rom-com cliches steals the sombreness it promised pre-interval but still it's a cozy sweet time with your valentine in the end.

The Story

Harshavardhan Kulkarni designs a Mahesh Bhatt, Anurag Kashyap's movie character in a Dharma love story - Meeta (Parineeti Chopra) is intelligent, open minded who trips on pills one day while running from her sister Diksha's wedding meets Nikhil (Sidharth Malhotra) who helps her to elope without knowing the facts about her and falls in love with Karishma (Adah Sharma) Meeta's sister. After seven years Meeta returns to Mumbai at the time when Nikhil and Karishma are about to get married. Karishma is now a TV actress while Nikhil is struggling to fit in her and her father's 'bills'. Karishma asks Nikhil to take care of Meeta and keep her existence as a secret to avoid any embarrassment to her family. Circumstances force Nikhil to let Meeta stay with his parents (Sharat Saxena, Neena Kulkarni) relatives and the baraatis. While busy with their marriage preparations Nikhil, Karishma and Meeta undergo an identity check and crises that creates new bonds and breaks some silence. Harshavardhan Kulkarni scores maximum in his characterizations Meeta and Nikhil are real, identifiable and simple. You find innovations in the writings during the beginning. The sequences between Nikhil and Meeta are amusingly funny but as the film a progress the writer struggles to find depth in the romance between Nikhil and Meeta and misses the opportunity to add layers to its story. Dialogues by Anurag Kashyap, Purva Naresh, Vinil Matthew are catchy, funny.

What to look out for?

Ad Man Vinil Matthew creates a warm welcome for himself in Bollywood as a director. It was a tough task for Vinil as the cinema of his producers - Dharma and Phantom - was different. But kudos to Vinil who did it differently without being indifferent to the core. After the introduction of Nikhil and Meeta we are assured of a good time in the theatre. Vinil successfully makes the audience enjoy its amusing, funny, feel-good moments and keeps the family melodrama subdued in comparison to earlier Dharma movies. Winningly acted by the lead where Sidharth gets it true solo star vehicle as an actor. Some faint haunting of Shashi Kapoor is found which a compliment. He is charming, sweet, natural and very effective. Sidharth makes the industry to take a serious note of his caliber with this. Parineeti is the entertainer over here. Simply outstanding! Yes, she does the bindaas care, bubbly bala again but viola, how refreshing once again. Superb. Adah Sharma gets a god scope and she does a wonderful job. Manoj Joshi as the father is first rate. Sharat Saxena, and Neena Kulkarni fit the bill. Production values are superb. Technicalities are fine. Cinematography by Sanu John Varughese is gorgeous; Editing by Shweta Venkat is sharp.

What not?

More com less rom. Well Vinil Matthew and Harshavardhan Kulkarni successfully lift us from those amusing funny moments that are aplenty the romance is there but it doesn't stays and gets consolidated. The ignorance of the writers and the laziness of the director to speed up the heart beats of Nikhil and Meeta at crucial points turns spoiler. Innovative start but a cliche end stops the movie from pushing its envelope further as the makers fail to add any potential layers and see any depth beyond a rom com. Vishal-Shekhar's musical is good while watching but no take home.

Conclusion: 'Hasee Toh Phasee' is cool but not that happening as it promised in its opening reels but still it's a cozy, delightful and witty time with your valentine anytime.
