As comfortable in serious, deep movies, as he is in fun action movies. I just want to see those people who stated how he is being overshadowed by the "heroine" in the trailer. 😆 He takes the horrible Dhoom series to a whole new level. Yes, there are a lot of hints of Hollywood movies, but it still manages to entertain and engage your attention because of one man, and one man only, Mister Amir Khan. Also, didn't think much of the story itself, but the execution is effective.

WOW very positive review...Aamir Khan 👏

The highly awaited movie of the year - Yash Raj Films, Dhoom 3, starring Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra releases across India today. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Dhoom 3 is one of the most expensive movie of the year, made with an approximate budget of Rs. 100 crore. Also Read: Dhoom 3 First Day Collections To Rock At TN Box Office Review ADVERTISEMENT A dramatic conflict is what makes cinema tick and to create such a conflict that doesn't defy the logic of audience is hard ! To begin with, the point of Dhoom franchise was never to keep it real. It was over the top in its very concept, design and ultimately in its sensibility. Dhoom 3 is just another nitro charged addition to the franchise that always has an ingredient set of 'super heroes- super bikes- sexy chicks'. Even though , this movie is an out and out Aamir Khan show, it is not really an Aamir Khan film. For him, this would be an attempt to bridge a good relationship with YRF. As per the design of the movie, Aamir's performance is also very over the top. Please don't expect the Aamir you have seen in films like Sarfarosh, Rang De Basanti, Mangal Pandey and Lagaan. There is no big story in this movie as such movies never requires a meaty plot ! Caper-heist films work fine even without a big story but the only condition is such that it shouldn't insult one's logic. Here, in this film, antagonist(villain) is a bank ! A bank is never a person. It is a just an economic system that multiplies money through legally approved ways. Taking revenge on a bank defies my logic and that is precisely the premise of the movie. If you are a Dhoom franchise fan, you may buy it ! But Indian cinema has travelled so far in the last decade, so are the audience. We must wait to see whether the audience approve this premise of Dhoom 3. Film begins in Chicago 1990, in a snow falling December, introducing Aamir Khan's childhood. Aamir's father, played by Jackie Shroff, is a legendary circus man who own 'The Great Indian Circus'. The company is in debt and in a last attempt to save the company, Shroff delivers the last show to the bank authorities. As the authorities deny his request, he shoots himself and dies. Aamir Khan's Sahir, from then on, is in a mission to take revenge on the bank. In the second half, Abhishek Jai Dixit weaves a new plan to capture him. Whether he successfully completes his mission or not forms the rest of the story. Abhishek's introductory fight tests the limits of your logic! A heavy dose of melodramatic scenes pop up when Aamir is seen recalling his past. The film works on an unreal plane and there are lot of repetitive scenes in the first half. First half of Dhoom 3 is a celebration of cliches and Aamir Khan doesn't have one single scene to showcase his performing skills in it. Luckily, the second half compensates for it to an extent ! Second half is Aamir's show and I believe that the last 45 minutes of the film, filled with high octane chase scenes and necessary emotional hooks, is the strength of the whole movie. Jai Dixit, Abhishek's character goes to investigate a bank robbery an Indian committed in Chicago .He is called as the best Indian Cop and he never even goes with a team but with side kick Ali who is not a certified cop ! I was surprised how the director underestimates his audience to this insane extent. To solve such an easy case, Chicago police needs an Indian officer's help, it seems ! Where was FBI, if Chicago police can't do it ! Oh, Okay , this is a story and we need Jai and Ali to arrive in Chicago to continue the story but it takes talent to make the scene 'believable'. The soul of cinema is 'make belief'. If you can't make your audience believe what you narrate, then you are in trouble ! Aamir introduces himself to Jai (Abhishek) and says he knows the robber. Jai in fact does not find anything mysterious in him. What a cop! He doesn't even do what an ordinary cop would do in such situations -' doubt everyone'. And the way he chose to prove his case is something even children won't believe ! The film is fast paced and very colourful. There is great precision in editing. Movie never lags. Second half luckily has a emotional hook. The second half purely belongs to Aamir! There is a romantic angle between Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif. Katrina doesn't have much to do in this film and luckily, she has one scene that leads to a turn of events in the film. Last 45 minutes is the strength of the film. Climax fall of Aamir was shot amateurishly and breaks the emotional grip the film has maintained till then. Last bank robbery was choreographed and shot in a very thrilling but 'over the top' way. Sometime the fight scenes are so unbelievable that you may laugh ! There should be a special mention for Julius Packiam, who composed the background score for the film. It is his work that really gives an emotional hook to many scenes which otherwise would have gone flat. Soundtrack literally elevates the mood of last bank robbery scene and climax. Aamir's performance is not up to the mark and it is sad to see him delivering a highly artificial performance in some key scenes. I couldn't expect this from the man who did such natural performance in his second film 'Raakh'. Katrina Kaif actually doesn't have a proper role but has two dance sequences and doesn't even try to prove her acting prowess, But of course, Kat looks hot and dances with high energy ! Abhishek Bachchan is excellent in some scenes but very funny in some 'supposed to be serious' scenes. To my surprise, Uday Chopra is so natural and almost outstanding ! Dhoom 3 Special Screening - Pictures Verdict Dhoom 3 will definitely find a place for itself in the crowd and will be enjoyed by a great number of audience. However, it is not for those who rely on logic in the first half! Post interval, the story heats up. Dhoom target audience is likely to 'lap up' this treat and and would be the best DHOOM so far.

BOX OFFICE: Dhoom 3 Set For A Record-Breaking Opening Day

By BusinessofCinema News Network on December 20, 2013

Dhoom 3 is released today, Friday, December 20, 2013. The hype and the anticipation for the latestDhoom franchise have been rising since the news of Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif being part of it broke.

The action-thriller is set for a record-breaking opening day, if not less. Multiplexes have opened to houseful, and most of the prime weekend shows are already sold out. Single screens have already been sold out at most regions. For Dhoom 3, the added advantage is the multiplex revenue. Hence, it might register a record-breaking opening.

North Indian regions are experiencing heavy fog, and winter is at the prime in these regions. But, this has not stopped the audience from entering cinemas. The initial report from North India too is excellent, with most multiplexes and single screens displaying the "Houseful" board. However, areas affected by winter have registered a slow trend, but is expected to grow as day progresses.

The afternoon shows have registered a slowdown, given that it's a non-holiday. The evening shows which are already booked via advance booking have made sure that the Dhoom 3 race continues on Day 1, and by the end of the day it is sure to achieve the desired target.

businessofcinema.com spoke to few members of the audience, who were rushing into the morning shows of Dhoom 3 in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Surat and Pune.

Aarti Singh (23), from Pune had booked her tickets via an online ticket booking website. "I've waited for Dhoom 3 for over an year now. Thanks to my brother and his friends. Am the only girl in this group, and am here for Katrina Kaif. We are very excited," said Aarti.

Nishant Pandya (19), from Surat said, "Thank god I could get 26 tickets for the first show. Only I know how I got. All our college friends chipped in, and we were desperately waiting for booking counters to open. We are all buried under heavy exam pressure, and this was our only way to take a break."

We got almost similar reactions from audiences in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi as well. However, unlike R... Rajkumar, where female audiences drew to cinemas in heavy number, forDhoom 3 the male audiences dominated the morning shows.

Have you watched Dhoom 3? What is your reaction? Let us know in comments below.

Katrina Kaif and Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3Dhoom 3 is a children's film made for children who've never seen a film, writes Raja Sen.

Twenty minutes into Dhoom 3, reeling from the assault of cinema so amateurish it's hard to believe it was put together by grown men, I began to ask myself precisely what this film was trying to be.

There was an annoying kid borrowed from the melodrama of Subhash Ghai movies, complete with a moist-eyed Jackie Shroff. There were the cheesiest of dialogues, Kader Khan in Dickensian mode.

There were stunts seemingly executed in slow-motion and shown to us even slower, resulting in yawnworthy chase scenes. There was Aamir Khan running down the side of a building for no apparent reason. Everything -- repeat, everything -- looked too goofy to be either thrilling or realistic or compelling or even plain fun.

And then it hit me. Dhoom 3 is a children's film made for children who've never seen a film.

How else can you explain this famine of originality? How else can you possibly justify the lack of a single interesting scene right up to the intermission? And how, after that, can you account for Aamir Khan's blatant exploitation of yet another Christopher Nolan masterpiece that the actor (by his own admission) doesn't understand?

Look here, I liked the first and second Dhoom films. The first was brisk enough to breeze by, the second was sheer masala but presented well, an utterly preposterous but very good looking film. The reason I've been looking forward to this film, however, was the fact that I was one of the half-dozen people on the planet who actually liked the director's first film, Tashan. All I wanted from Vijay Krishna Acharya's third installment, then, was a film that made like a firecracker and went boom -- even if it didn't make sense.

But this is a Christmas debacle.

We start with Chicago in the year 1990, though it may as well be a hundred years ago. An old magician (Shroff), his labrador-brown eyes eternally wet with tears, runs a circus housed in a massive structure the size of the New York Public Library. The bank moves in to cut off his loan and Shroff, instead of perhaps leasing out the place and moving to a humbler venue, decides to kill himself. For how dare the evil bankers remain unmoved by his clown-nose wearing son?

Said son grows up to become Aamir Khan, a frequently shirtless man who sleeps in corduroy trousers. Oh, and robs banks, since banks = evil.

American police seem ill-equipped to handle things (The Rock must have had the month off) and thus, naturally, help is imported from back in India. Where Uday Chopra's Ali spends several minutes talking up his boss to goons -- in "Don't you know he's Dirty Harry?" vein -- before the aforementioned boss shows up flying through the air in an auto-rickshaw with stickers of Salman Khan film optimistically on either side.

Abhishek Bachchan's Jai Dikshit seems a nice enough fellow, if somewhat surly, but he happens to be a remarkably incompetent police officer. (I mean, if not from Dad, at least take some pointers from Iftekhar Uncle's movies, Abhishek?) Here's a fellow who, when he traps a fleeing motorcycle on a bridge, helpfully tilts it up to offer the fugitive a convenient ramp. The rest of the time he scowls.

Ah, and then there's the girl. Apparently all the "hot Asian ladkiyan" in Chicago have been auditioned for Khan's Great Indian Circus act but none has enough "liquid electricity," whatever in innuendo's name that means. Enter Katrina Kaif, all stuntwoman-flexible and whippety hairdo, looking like a million bucks and speaking, disconcertingly enough, like a 12-year-old.

The rest of the film is, essentially, a dumbed-down version of Christopher Nolan's The Prestige, arguably the greatest movie ever made about magicians. Aamir Khan, who claimed Ghajini was a great story but that he didn't understand Nolan's groundbreaking Memento, will probably say some such about this bit of shameless pilfering as well.

Oh, and he uses a Joker sign too, to boot. (I can already picture ambitious young screenwriters lining up outside Khan's bungalow with easy-to-understand song-filled scripts titled Sapne Mein Sapna.)

The other thing in this film is The Face. If you've seen the trailer or the songs or the posters, you know what I'm talking about. It's the perplexingly weird expression Aamir sticks onto his face throughout, and the smugness with which he wears the A-Face makes me wonder if we're all -- inadvertently and inescapably -- seeing his vinegar strokes over and over again. If we're eskimo brothers now, Aamir Bhai, must say you messed up. Big time.

Not that Khan's acted badly. Oh no. Outside of The Face, he's pretty solid and has the charisma to power this film through, especially when he's being all summery: i.e. all cutesy smirks and grins and chortles, a happy part of his repertoire the actor seemed to have left behind awhile ago. He also deserves credit for being a massive superstar who has agreed to look, occasionally, like an Oompah-Loompah; he's been shot most unflatteringly. It is purely because of Khan that the (three) dramatic twists in this movie have any heft at all, but even he can't help the vacant nothingness that engulfs the script before and after those stray moments.

But, you might persist, having already bought into the exorbitantly priced weekend tickets, aren't the stunts good? Or IMAX-worthy? Well, the locations aren't bad. It's mostly shot in Chicago, and some of the vistas used as backgrounds for the bridges look pretty awesome.

The stunts themselves, however, are both pointless and badly edited. Khan's bike (which is a Transformer, for some reason) is flung around excitably enough but hurling action figures isn't the same as choreographing an action set-piece. So much time is spent in slow-motion, and so long do we linger on each shot, that the chases appear sluggish. There is no sense of urgency. At one point, stationary police cars randomly start to do cartwheels, perhaps only to indulge Acharya's inner Rohit Shetty. Like I said, if your child doesn't know what movies are, he might be amused. For a bit.

The trick, of course, is on us. Shroff might have called his act The Box In The Box, but producer Aditya Chopra goes one better, knowing we'll show up to watch a Dhoom film if only to laugh at it. This time around, Aamir's The Boy In The Box Office.

When you say Dhoom 3 has shades of the Prestige, you mean the pressure cooker, right?
