If Rajeev Masand did not appreciate masala movies..why did he invite Rohit Shetty to Director's round table..now suddenly he is critically acclaimed..is it?

Critics should start their reviews by saying personal view only...😛

You guys should read Bharadwaj Rangan..who all think only dumb people appreciated RR..😆.. http://baradwajrangan.wordpress.com/2013/12/08/r-rajkumar-7894564-9765-9792334/

Well first of all I don't even read most of the critics, especially not these typical kinda critics. And though I'm happy for shahid, I couldn't like this movie a bit after reading an article about the content in the movie.
about appreciating masala genre, it is appreciated, but most of the time one needs to put it in a presentable and decent way.
for an example, it's shahid's but even salman can't hope for his moveis to get a decent criticism, and R. rajkumar was more like salaman's movie than rohit shetty's. Rohit's movies are complete nonsense, but not offensive at all, however, these kinda movies are offensive at many levels.

She would next be seen in Holiday and Action Jackson, both of which would release in the first half of 2015.

No, you only get feedback from people who like you, your fanbase is only part of a larger audience. 😆

The critics job isn't to watch the films from the audience point of view, we have an audience for that. 😆

It wasn't liked by the critics only.

I'm trying to understand Sona's perspective ... If it was bashed by the critics and people still ended up appreciating the movie ... then what?

Should I tell you the harsh truth? 😆 Sonakshi doesn't care about the critics OR the audience. All she cares about is the hit, super hit, BB, ATBB tags that the movies receive. She's going to keep on working until masala films work at the box office (and the stars in those movies still cast her as the wallpaper in the movie) and when she stops getting offers, she will easily settle into marrying a rich industrialist.

What irks me to even speak about her or this is that she can actually naturally act. The world is so unfair. That kind of talent could have been given to someone like Sonam and she could be doing much more with it than Sonakshi ever seems to plan on doing.

She is 26 ... if for couple years...she wants to enjoy doing something she loves ... like Masala stuff..and concentrate on serious roles later...who are we to blame?

Maybe it's unfair to her fans ... but she is standing where she is today, because of her fans ... When she realizes that her fans are tired of watching her in this crap... she will move on.

Like DB_Reloaded, I think, ...keeps on mentioning that Masala stuff will die soon enough anyways ... I agree. These stars will have no choice but to move on automatically.

Unlike some other actors ... she at least showed a bit of interest in doing other kind of movies ... I know, Lootera's only one movie ...but unlike others, she is still young and yet to make lots of choices...

^^ Lootera had terrible WOM, by the way. Everyone who went to watch the movie, came back saying, I loved it, but I don't think you will. Hence, more people were discouraged to watch the film.
And Sonakshi is a grade one hypocrite. Just because she doesn't have the body to wear bikini, she shames other heroines who choose to do so. She only cares about her wallpaper roles, and being part of superhit movies. Also, she know very well that she will not be accepted in a variety of roles. Hence, the hypocrisy. What a waste of a great acting talent, really. Wake the heck up, babe.

Also, she did Lootera only because it was Motwane and Balaji PH. She had already done their OUATIMD and angering Ekta is always a bad option. She just has zero interest in acting. So unfair. Someone like Sonam or Deepika should have been bestowed with the talent. They are a lot more serious about their crafts than she will ever be.

Films are at the end of day a subjective opinion. You may like one thing but that doesn't mean others have to like it too...and not everyone can turn their brains off and watch a film. ..The reason she's getting flak, and other actors get flak when saying things like this, is because they are the first to lap up critical praise when their films flop and are critically acclaimed, but when critics trash it, they say "oh you shouldn't use your brain while watching the film."

I understand what you are saying and also that you have personal stake in this because she starred in R...Rajkumar. Yes, critics do get it wrong many times and movies that are good, or movies that a certain segment of the population does find enjoyable in whatever way do not always correlate with how the critics have viewed them. However, she can probably express that a lot more eloquently by saying that her measure of appreciation lies more with the audience, no matter what their views may be, rather than dismissing critics for 'bringing personal intellect' into the experience of watching something as subjective as movies and after all doing what their job is supposed to be: measuring a movie's strengths and weaknesses as per their perspective. What she said is just insensible and quite honestly can't be defended because forget critics, a certain part of the audience brings their brain to the theater too. Some people may be okay with turning off their brains for fun, but that's not going to happen for everyone...and those people are going to slam or call her out on those movies...and statements like this.

All that apart, the bigger problem is how $$$ seem to be the only measure for her. As someone approaching something that is supposed to be an art form, what does that say about her priorities and sensibilities and the dilution of the craft at the hands of people with such goals? Simply, she doesn't really give a toss about being an actor.

I went with my brain to this movie & loved it..it is a very blanket statement to divide films into such categories..just because a movie is termed as masala does not mean it is junk..same way as so called art cannot camouflage rubbish..

So much of the Ram-Leela 's story was based on revenge on the married woman/widow by the men in the form of attempted gang-rape..all that was swept under the carpet by these so called intellectual critics..I won't say such a story is great shakes & conducive to the brain..

Dilution of the craft?..really..Prabhu Dheva is great in his craft..the way he gave a wonderful screenplay..one does not get bored for even one sec..

Is she alone is placing $$$ ahead of anything else..the whole BW seems to be party to that..how many have dissed Shahid's movie just because it did not do well at BO in this forum itself..

Well, can we really blame her? Unfortunately, she enjoys it. She is being at least honest to her viewers. At least in her case, we know what to expect ... That's an other thing, she is talented and should do good work to please her viewers -- she is still young enough.

World is indeed unfair. What can we do? 😆

I think she doesn't care about anything-neither critical acclaim nor money. Guess she got bored of fashion designing so went on to do movies.😆 She knows that if her acting career fails her life won't change a bit. Hence she doesn't care a bit about anything. (Maybe except for food.)
