Honestly it's the music. Arijit Singh is the real star. Tum Hi Ho is like the biggest blockbuster of the year and it pulled the people in. But drove the success was ARK. The chemistry was great too, but the girls when mad crazy for ARK.

I agree. Especially hitting hard bit. And had they shown him recover from rehab or solved his addiction, I doubt it would have created that impact on the audience. Moreover, it had been ages since we saw a lovestory like this...regardless of how flawed the script was. The release period also helped. I repeat again, songs of so many films are a hit these days but ultimately without WOM nothing works. A2 had a great WOM. And there was an article some days back on the trps the movies get on channels... A2 was 4th in the list alongwith Chennai Express and 3 Idiots which is a huge thing for relatively fresh newcomers. Sony Max airs this movie like every week!

I still don't know why this movie was a hit! I like ARK, the music was good but seriously I don't expect this to be doing anything more than average business! So I want to believe that there was no other movie for ppl to go to at that time😆

I agree with you so much. Sadly, Mohit Suri is not been given enough credit.

Taking new starcast, hard to portray characters, not so conventional climax and bearing the comparison to Aashiqui the guy has done exceptionally well.

I watched Kalyug but i found it as a fine film, but with Aashiqui 2 he has made a mark as there were many places he could go wrong.

I hope he gets Best Director 2013.

I think the director should be given the most credit for it. And then the music and the actors' chemistry. I've watched this movie at least 4 times already and it still manages to make me cry. It was such a simple script but the emotions were all captured well. Considering the budget, this really is the biggest movie of the year. Nobody expected it to do this well.

This was a one off thing . Ark and shradda are one hit wonders not stars
