Sushant Singh Rajput's latest movie Shuddh Desi Romance released this Friday (September 6, 2013).

He is just two films old, but actor Sushant Singh Rajput says he has already realised the power of cinema, and how it impacts the lives of people.

The 27-year-old, whose second movie Shuddh Desi Romance released on Friday, says his source of inspiration is Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan.

"I told Shah Rukh sir when I met him that I'm an actor because of him," Sushant said in a statement.

"When I used to watch his films earlier, I used to feel that acting as a profession is so powerful, you can convince people of something which you're not. Or maybe it's so larger than life and you can hide behind all these interesting and exciting characters. But I didn't take acting seriously then," he added.

Sushant, who made his Bollywood debut with Kai Po Che!, made the confession on the TV showBreakfast To Dinner.

Sushant is aware that he can demand for a lot from the production houses. "The kind of production houses that I am working with, I can go around and do films and ask for a whole lot of money, but that's not the reason I am here for as money doesn't excite me," said Sushant. "This is not the reason why I want to be in this industry. I need Money just for survival and it doesn't excite me after a certain point and the same is with fame," he added. The 27-year-old does not take up all the projects that come his way. He chooses a film if he thinks that the film needs him. "I've said no to four-five films. If I think I don't fit there or contribute to the film, I say no. Most of the projects for me have to do with realistic films, and as an actor, the first step is to convince myself. If I can connect with it, I can convince myself, then I say yes to it," he explained. Sushant is very particular about the kind of people he wants to work with. "I don't want to work with actors who are not passionate about their work. I can't work with them. I would rate myself 10 on 10 for being passionate. But acting wise, I rate myself three or four. I still have a long way to go as an actor," he said. The actor, who began his career from television, is glad to see the change he sees on TV these days. "The kind of change is coming on TV. the kind of seasons they are coming up with instead of leaps, I am happy with the change. It's a very powerful medium," he said. (Inputs from IANS)

No one will ever be the nest SRK, the same way no one ever became the next Dilip Kumar or the next Big B. These men set a standard for themselvs and others and can't be touched.

Sushant still has a long way to go before he becomes even 1% of SRK. Also, SRK didn't get this "superstar" status 1 or 2 films into BW, it took him a lot of hard work, criticism and success. I get so tired of every newcomer being labelled the next SRK just b/c they're from TV and had a fwe good roles.

Not saying that Sushant won't be successful but SRK is and will always be on a different level and different league.

Actually it is both Irrfan Khan and SRK. Sushant has always said that he is an actor cos of SRK and inspired highly by him, at the same time he has also said that he is a self admitted fan of Irrfan's work and films, and the way he gets into the skin of the characters.

He admires both of them.
