Phata Poster Nikla Hero: Movie Review

Raj Kumar Santoshi is one of the most popular directors in Bollywood, his cult comedy "Andaz Apna Apna" is still loved by Indian audience. His recent comic flick "Ajab prem ki gajab kahani" was also a blockbuster hit. And he hasn't disappointed in "Phata poster nikla hero".

Story Outline
In the movie, Vishwas Rao (Shahid Kapoor) is a huge Salman Khan fan and wants to be a successful actor like him. But his mother (Padmini Koklhapuri) wants him to become an honest police officer. So, for the sake of his mother's happiness, he lies to her. He tells her that he is preparing for entrance exam while whole time he is giving film auditions.

Kajal (Ileana D'Cruz) mistakes him as a real cop and falls in love with him. The trouble starts brewing as the villain (Saurabh Shukla) also thinks he is a real cop. So, what this confusion leads to, and how it is resolved; is the story of the movie.

Actor performance
Shahid Kapoor has given a good performance in the movie. His comic timing is spot on, and looks every bit as Salman Khan Fan. Illena D'Cruz has also given a decent performance, though her part in the movie isn't significant.

However, the star of the movie is Saurabh Shukla who has lightened up the movie with his great performance. The veteran actor who plays the role of Don will at least bring smile on your face with his excellent expressions.

Negative points
There are many loopholes in the plot which can be easily identified. The plot sometimes also gets predictable in the movie. And some jokes aren't funny. Those expecting it to be laugh riot might be disappointed.

Positive points
Rajkumar Santoshi has served comedy and action in equal measures in this movie. The music of the movie by Pritam is very good. "Rang Sharbato Ka" is the best of all tracks, while others are also good.

Verdict
Though the movie isn't spectacular, it still is an entertaining watch. The movie has its own charm which by the end of the movie you will bring a moderate smile on your face.
