Fab interview...especially the beginning bits where she talked so honestly and candidly about why she did those movies and what her thought process was there...it shows self-awareness...especially when she talks about how she doesn't have the talent do do certain roles...kudos, Sonam👏...I know we rag on her a lot for living in a bubble...lol...but she surprised me in this interview.

I loved how honestly she spoke about not having the credibility in her or the talent to do larger than life heroine roles...the usual hindi film heroine removed from reality...and the fact that Raanjhanaa helped her find herself...it's very true and it SHOWS in the movie...I can see the genuine leap in her as an actor...and I'm honestly happy for her...now I can only hope she continues forward with doing stuff that works for her...she's not made to fit into the space of the norms...so she will have to carve out her own niche and for that she will deffo need good writers and directors to nurture that from her too...

*Edit: Forgot to mention but loved how she described Zoya...that she is the most beautiful girl in the mohalla who KNOWS she is the most beautiful girl in the mohalla...lol...and looking at her you could see that she wasn't made to last in Benaras very long anyways...she had to fly out ot the big city...and the hand holding-slapping routine b/w her and Kundan was their own brand of flirting...lol

Haha that's why I loved this interview too. Very honest and candid about what went wrong, her thought processes. Bachi badi ho gayi Anu 😆 She's given other interviews like this before but she kinda brushes over it by just saying "it's not for me" ...and doesn't really mention those films by name either..but this was a surprising in-depth...and MATURE analysis of what went wrong. ..like she wasn't blaming her directors as such or the films either..she did say ki I had a lot of fun and they treated me well, I made friends but I just don't have the conviction, the talent for such films.

Hopefully she won't get swayed by her PR folks or other people again into signing those films again at this point. ...and yeah she has to carve out her own path. She can't follow/do what the actresses do..I think it helps that she isn't actually aiming to be #1..well hopefully she will get good writers, directors..I'm curious to see what kind of films she will get/sign from here on out.

If upcoming releases are no good then perhaps, otherwise it's tough.

so i wana give my review ..
Stupendous film.. the film was moreover kundan's journey and not a usual love story.
it also deals wid reality a lot, for example, people r bound to forget their childhood crush/love/admires, when they really face the reality.
loved d fact that kundan wasnt a loser, he did feel bad, he did had d frustation and gussa to show zoya dat he is not alone , he can also have a girl mad for him.
even in real, girls wudnt prefer a " jahil" like kundan.. ( i wish reality wudnt b so harsh, as i felt for him a lot )..

Firstly, film belonged to the show stealer, Dhanush.. yes, i swear, i only knew dat this not so " good looking " guy sang kolaveri di.. thats it.. he surprised me, amazed me, actually affected me in such a way that i m still in awwe for his character.. cant just forget his acting..
sometimes fiction also can be so affective, if d actor knows hw to sell it, or stimulate human emotions to d core, which Dhanush did..

Kundan, worshipped zoya, more than worship, we can say.. last moment, d dialogues, when he is on d hospital bed, just pierces d heart, seriously.. Kundan's breakdown scene in front of d mirror in his wedding sherwani was one more mastraeo..
Dhanush not only had a good chemistry wid sonam, but also d girl playing bindiya..
i wept the moment kundan says to zoya, that if he cant win for her, then he will b haazir for her 17th slap for him.. uff, he delivered it so beautifully..

Sonam was amazing too, surprise indeed.. she looked beautiful, nd acted very good.. her character wasnt a cake walk, zero glamour qoutient, wid so much layers..
zoya, uses kundan, make shim happy, has fun wid him, on d other hand, feels affectionate for him, and later d hatred for him, her revenge, d way she spits on his face.. the way she humilates him, everything was done so nicely.. sonam did a very good job..
If at a point i felt a certain dislike for zoya, as she never valued kundan, its becos sonam had did d role wid so much conviction..grat job..

Overall, i still say, it was a Dhanush film.. i just got lost in kundan's journey.. its really so touchy, dat hw since a child, his age increases, he becomes mature, nd hw every layer, and journey of his love, he crosses every boundary.. Dhanush, just welcome to d barren bollywood, which had everything but not great actors like u.. now its complete.. u r here 2 stay..
The title RANJHANA, indeed gets justified..

doesnt really matter u know..
becos i m sure Rnajhaana will be successful indeed.. nd i will b happy..
it really doenst need 2 beat other good films to prove its success..
both d films were a surprise and actually a sigh of relief and something heart touching after many years from bollywood..

Most of her fans have been saying this since forever - she is unfit for the larger than life genre. I always saw her as a niche actress, right from the beginning. I hope she can carve that niche for herself and I am glad she has come back to her own...and Bollywood is changing. Both masala films and films with good content are doing well.

I think you are deadly mistaken,... who told you, I hate her?
Sonam is my fav. actress and I like her,..
Read my below post,..

in teengae love-hate story and especially on a one to one heartiest realtionship stories of churning just the plain heart-feelings,.. ( i do not like buffalos/padas like KAT, parineeti, Sonakshi, Rani or anushka or Kareena,... perhaps dipika a litle bit,.. but Sonam a lot
in these kind of one to one heartiest emotions n' feelings in churnings )
though bodily asset point of view speaking,...she is not my favorite and many calls her lean and thin ( haddiyon ka dhaanchaa ) a garodi / chhipkali
But somehow I like her to an
extent ( I like lean and tall girlies, than fatty padas like Sonakshi / Vidhya ) and her Aisha and Mausam I had liked , though many did not,...
Plus, when Sonam is on screen, I do not expect her,
for any cleveage exposed or legs, thighs, bum exposed,
Coz only I expect her from is cry, harsh, hate, anger, love, bash, happy in love, cry in hate, and all heartiest feelings in full-gear of churning,...
I just love her watching doing so,... and hell with her underdeveloped breasts or any body parts, since I expect nothing in that area, anyway,...

I never really saw her as a niche actress until I saw IHLS/Mausam/Thank You + her interviews. 😆 Then I realized that she's just not cut out for those roles...and finally Sonam seems to be saying the same thing. BW is changing for sure, so hopefully Sonam can do what she wants properly.

*spoilers*

Yes, I do agree the political part had some loop holes but as i said before we should look at the film as Kundan's story. It is his narration what is being shown. So Jasjeet's entry felt irritating coz thats what how Kundan must have felt at that point of his life.

Infact if you see each character of the story is shown as how Kundan interacted with them at different point of life. We see characters through him. We only get to see what he saw. That's why we dont see Bindiya's character details For example: they dont show what happend at kundan and bindiya's wedding day. All they show her is standing at balcony..coz that's what he has seen...

Even the character jasjeet is shown to us as how much kundan knows him through zoya or his interaction with jasjeet. Therefore how jasjeet died etc etc..was not shown coz Kundan does not know all those details. All he knows is he died. How and when is unknown to him and therefore to us and honestly there was no need to show all those details of other characters. it was strictly kundans' story which he was narrating ...
