i know truth hurts but calling me 'immature' for stating facts is not going to help your case.. why don't you first look at your fellow Madhuri stans who are constantly belittling other heroines by glorifying their idol like crazy? My main point is Madhuri is no God amongst insects, so quit putting her on a pedestal 24/7

who's constantly belittling other heroines?? you seem to know alot about the ongoings of this forum for a newbie. why dont u use ur actual account. firstly , im like the only big madhuri fan who visits the bollywood section, most of madhuris fans prefer to stick to posting things to her fanclub. so i dont know what you mean by constantly belittling other heroines by glorifying madhuri. y dont u go ahead and glorify ur favourite actress if that makes you feel better.

Age is a factor. So is hypocrisy and mindset of Indian audience. BUT this is also a fact that Madhuri is over-exposed in her naach gaana and smiling stuff and she has not reinvented herself.

It is obvious those days are gone when her one song was enough to make a film hit. She dances fine even today but lacks the energy she used to dance with till 90s. It was very obvious in Ghagra. She did not look effortless and energetic in it IMO.

Now the exposure part, I remember when we'd gone to watch Wanted in theatre, people had cheered loudly when Govinda sprang up from nowhere! Yes he looked old. But his energy was intact. And most importantly, he was no longer much exposed in media and films so it was a surprise for audience to see him after so long.
Same for Sridevi. She has been careful and rather smart in not exposing herself much (in her pre-EV years). So seeing her was a surprise for audience.

Another issue is reinvention. One reason for people going gaga over Aamir and Salman in Ghajini and Dabangg was that audience saw them in totally new and unexpected avatars! EV was a pleasant surprise too because Sridevi was not doing what she has always been doing or what actresses her age are shown doing. So she got acceptance.

Madhuri is forever alluding to her past glory! No reinvention, same looks, same thumkas and item songs. Why will anyone whistle or cheer at Ghagra when they have better songs from her heydays playing on TV every day? Why will anyone be surprised to see her if she's in ads and TV shows?

Where is the exclusivity? The element of surprise?

Even male actors have to reinvent themselves and constantly find ways to surprise audience. The question in MD's case is less about gender and age rather more about her career strategy, image and lack of reinvention.

This, I agree with. Madhuri really needs to let go of her past image and come up with something that will surprise everyone. I'm hoping Dedh Ishqiya and Gulab Gang will bring something fresh to the table. If these films do what EV did for Sridevi, then Madhuri will have something more than dancing skill for the people to remember her by.

You know, sometimes I think that people who have a negative opinion on a celeb tend to shove their opinion down other people's throats harder and more aggressively than the fans themselves. I don't think any so-called die-hard Madhuri fan [] is denying that her time is over. We're just discussing the outrageous and quite frankly quite a desperate and stupid comparison, simply for the purpose of putting Madhuri down, between her and Katrina. Hell I hate Katrina too, maybe I should open a thread tomorrow comparing her with Rakhi Sawant. Who knows Rakhi Sawant might just be better than her in the acting department. And hey, before all these Kaifs and Jacqelines and whatnot, It was Rakhi who made "shaking your assets" quite famous.

The point is, I don't like Madhuri's over-exposure and the fact that she refuses to let go of her past super-stardom. I want her to reinvent herself too and do what Sridevi did for herself. It's true that she's no longer a favorite and I don't think she can achieve that kind of fame again. But at the same time one can't deny that she ruled the Industry in her heyday and was easily the hero of most of her films. And to the people who're saying that people weren't cheering in the theatre and it's just us "Madhuri fans" going gaga, well I wouldn't really achieve laurels by proving that my favorite got cheered by the audiences. It's not going to make my life any better or pay my bills. So please, I'm stating a fact as it is. I'm not getting anything out of it. Maybe people didn't cheer in other theatres or shows, but they did in mine. Deal with it.

Did someone here compare Katrina Kaif to Madhuri calling the latter a mediocre actress?
Just the fact that there were other great actresses like Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil and Tabu, doesn't lessen the worth of Madhuri. She held a unique position in Bollywood, being the only female superstar of her time who excelled in her craft and how
I can understand comparisons with other equally or more talented actresses, but Katrina Kaif?🤔 That one is not fit to be compared even to a Kareena Kapoor, no offence to the latter though😆

I know Madhuri fans find it appalling for her to be compared with Katrina.
But in my books, I respect Katrina more. At least she didn't use sexuality and vulgarity to reach the heights of fame. Even before Sheila and Chikni, she was still pretty popular. Obviously some level of sexiness is needed, I have never found Katrina to be vulgar. Or even Kareena for that matter. They have had several double meaning lyrics in their songs, but I never cringed.
Yes Katrina had Chikni Chameli, and that first Boom movie. But she is a saint compared to what Madhuri used to do!.
Go watch Madhuri's old dance numbers, if you don't cringe you're either perverted or a blind fan.
I dunno why she is known for her dancing. Just because she smiles? She's good, but she is not legendary as they make her out to be. I find Aishwarya Rai to be a way better dancer.

You have every right to respect Katrina more. Heck if u r looking for an ideal candidate for respecting, I suggest Mother Teresa to you.
But I was comparing the two in terms of acting talent. Heroines are supposed to act sensuous and no matter how vulgar dance steps or scenes were given to Madhuri she did not look cheap in them. The Dayavan scene looked forced.
The problem with Katrina is that she can't emote, so even Rakhi Sawant would look more convincing than her in a sexy act 😆

The answer is obviously a no.
Madhuri was a legend and will remain one forever. No one can replace her Beauty and grace. Bollywood hasn't got a madhuri and can never get one, she is eternal and timeless.

There are a few reasons why people may not hoot and whistle for Madhuri Dixit.

- They have too much respect for her. I think even if we find someone sexy and hot, we tend to restrict our halkat behavior if it is someone we respect.

- She is too old and unsexy

- She is sensual and sexy, but not raunchy enough to elicit hoots and catcalls.
