I acknowledged Don12's points. I gave examples of some things in Raja and Aarti's characters because other films that succeeded in that decade in this big way were like ideal stuff. It's often said people wanted to see dream-like situations back then hence success of Rajshri, YRF and Dharma films were explained.
Raja Hindustani is not in that ideal mould.
So I was asking if people liked it for opposite reason then? For being relatable in real life? (because as you rightly said every marriage has problems)
Akele mein kiss scene - you made the point yourself! When it is being said that families watched it in hordes, then how come families were okay with kissing scene or delighted by its prospects? Akele mein dekhna hai toh families won't come or choose to rent a video, no?
Things have changed now. But I feel back then it was mainly front benchers who went wild at kissing scenes!
