HIMMATWALA Post Release Analysis

Himmatwala before its release is carrying the tag of one of the most awaited film of the year. Everyone in trade was talking about 100 crore mark. Director Sajid Khan went one step ahead to tout it as next 150 crore film. But after the film release it is struggling to touch 50 crore nett mark. Himmatwala started with bang on first day at the box office collecting more than 10+ crore nett. But after that it is all downhill. Film even failed to show growth on first Sunday which is a rarity these days. Himmatwala went on to collect around 41.5 crore nett in its first week.

Himmatwala has started the second week again poorly. 2nd Weekend collection are lower than expected and it will finish the 2nd week with a below par score. As per early trends Himmatwala should collect around 5.5-6+ crore nett in its 2nd week. That means Himmatwala total collection after two weeks is around 47+ crore nett mark, still short of 50 crore nett mark by 2-3 crore margin. Since, there are no big releases in coming week it might crawl into the 50 crore mark. But a film which is sure shot to collect 100 crore nett pre-release, a collection of around 50 crore nett is a disaster at the box office.

As for loses from Himmatwala it will be big. Himmatwala landing cost as stated by makers is around 72 crore. So, if we take all revenue scenario (theatrical + non-theatrical + music + home video + rest) into account, still it will make a loss of around 15-20 crore range. As for distributors loses it better not to talk. Sajid Khan who was the captain of the ship, who 'rant' huge expectation from the film pre-release, now needs to come out in open as distributors and audiences need answer from his side. Good news is that Chashme Baddoor has taken the box office in its stride and making out for the loses entitled by the Himmatwala.
