Both grossed 140 cr but just release sizes made the difference in verdict and NOT the budgets. Infact both had almost the same budgets etc.

No! You're completely mistaken.

Bodyguard was sold to distributors at a much heftier price than Dabanng.

If Distributors paid 80 cr for Dabangg and made 140 Cr. Thats an ROI of 175%.
If Distributors paid 100 cr for Bodyguard and made 140 cr. That's an ROI of 140%.

Which is why Dabangg is an ATBB and Bodyguard a BB.

Kahaani had a decent release. Its opening was only around 50%. It wasn't packing theatres by any means. What it was a low budget film, which was sold to distributors at a very fair price which means everybody made money even though it only grossed around 50-60 Cr. When everybody makes money everywhere, you get a SUPERHIT.

Budget and ROI are extremely important. Not sure where you got that formula from, but you couldn't be more wrong.

producers anyways don't go into losses these days coz of so its upto the distributors to decide whether they wanna release a movie on a what scale...roi is a very vague way to judge a verdict infact..

Its not wrong but I still think the price a distributor pays for a film should be included somewhere.

Heroine got a wide release but wasn't sold expensively so just going with screen counts is not always the right way.
