arre baba, BOI is the most reliable site. They don't take into account either the budget OR roi (return on investment) as actual budgets are hardly known. They just take Distributor share/ no. of screens to declare the verdict.
Share = 1/2 of nett collections approx.

What...I swear I saw BOI declare ABCD a hit. 😕 I thought they declared KPC a hit too & SP 26 was above average or something.

Either BOI is now backtracking, or I seriously need to sleep more. 😆

Nah.. BOI never declared ABCD and KPC hits.. plz sleep more 😛

Okay, then they are backtracking for both because I remember that ABCD and KPC were declared hits by BOI. I have no idea why though. Lately lots of people have been grumbling about BOI's declarations & how they don't make sense...I mean in the industry also. They seem to be losing some credibility.

Yeah I understood SP26's status and Race 2's also. They were apparently sold for a lot, and Race 2 had a very wide release & needed to do well above 100 crores to get to a "hit" status.

Maybe BOI guys make an assumption on the final collections and then revise their final status after the theaterical run is almost complete. JTHJ was supposed to do better. But it did just over 100cr as per BOI.
I remember Shaliesh Kapoor the CEO of Ormax tweeting that BOI under-reports figures but other trade analysts also give a very high figure. So they independently confirm the figures themselves due to the confusion. The issue with Taran is he doesnt keep easily accessible records like BOI does.

This doesnt make sense though. Distributor share/ no. of screens only gives you the average per screen. You need to know how much returns the distributors got on their investment to give a verdict.

Maybe they do that. *shrugs*

Well I never really understand BO stuff properly anyways. 😆 Yeah he was the one tweeting about that & some other folks also. So basically it's somewhere in the middle.

no its not like that.

there are 2 models for giving the verdict. Share is common to both.

1. boi doesnt take producers investment or the price at which distributors buy the movie coz its hardly known to anyone. they feel and rightly so that these prices are just a bet placed by distributors which may go haywire and that shouldnt be the only factor in deciding the verdict. so a better method is taking the confidence of prod/dist/exhb. to release the movie in so n so many screens coz that's available to boi and cant be forged by prod/dist/exhb. .

2. losers and corrupt ppl like komal/taran/fake sites dont have their own sources rather they depend on producers words who bribe them to give ROI based verdicts.

That's not true at all. Budget is always part of the equation.

There's a reason films like Vicky Donor and Kahaani are SuperHits at BOI. Return on Investment is an integral part of any calculations. The only difference is most people focus on the ROI of producers which is not important at all. It's the ROI of distributors that decides whether the film was a HIT or a FLOP.

its absolutely true. i used to think like u but the truth is they don't require budget as a criterion. release size is anyways better criterion. vd n kahaani had a small release size and grossed really brilliantly acc. to that. they reached the threshold status of super-hits just based on DS/ screen size. Budget n ROI have never been the criteria for them.

Reason for BG and Dabanngg being BB and ATBB is the same.

Both grossed 140 cr but just release sizes made the difference in verdict and NOT the budgets. Infact both had almost the same budgets etc.
