People are saying Govinda's song were condemned,,,l No! He wasn't but his costar s were only because they were female

And What basically Sharmila is trying to say is that If all actresses are ridiculed for doing item songs then why not male actors! Her point is justified and especially on where she says that "There's nothing fundamentally wrong with being an object of desire. You don't have to live up to certain moral standards to get your right to security. To say prostitutes are not worthy of respect and can be raped is outrageous"

sharmila is one smart woman

blaming item songs is not the answer. It's the way men are raised in our society, the way they are treated superior to woman as if they are god's gift to the world. Ppl need to look at the real problems , instead of blaming bollywood and item songs.

Precisely, people missed Sharmila's point entirely.

Pointing fingers at item songs is looking for scapegoats for a problem that is much more complex and stems from the mindset of society.
