Interesting. What I knew was when SRK got to know Salman was close to being finalized for a YRF film he lobbied for the film and got it to keep Salman out of YRF. While Salman kept waiting for YRF's response to his suggestions who never got back. Anyways either way it all happens for the best. CDI turned out to be one of SRK's career best films.

What a lame excuse to turn down this movie .I am glad that he rejected...CDI belonged to SRK. He nailed it !

Jaideep Sahni and Shimit Amin did an interview where they said SRK was always offered the film first. He didn't have time for it and turned it down. They were so disappointed they sat on the computer all night pasting beards on the faces of male heros to see which one might work besides SRK.

After that offers were made to Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. I don't know why it's Salman's name that keeps coming up. Akshay was also offered it. It was just that Salman was going through a really bad phase in his career at that time and his PR spread it around everywhere that he was offered the movie first once it became a hit. Akshay didn't bother doing all that. Salman's PR also spread around everywhere that he was offered Jodha Akbar first after it became a hit.

Later, many months later, Adiya Chopra called up in the middle of the night begging SRK to do the movie. He had finished his other work so he agreed.

They can all make up any reason they want but the truth is that all actors were hesitant to do it because they thought it would flop, simple! No actress, no songs, no love story, they all expected it to fail so they didn't want to do it. It's only later they start making up all kinds of reasons.

SRK only did it because he is friends with YRF and if they really want him to do it, he will. He was also surprised it became a hit because he wasn't really expecting it.

The movie required acting and salman refused it because he can't act to save his life.

It was the title he was unsure about as he felt by saying chak de india the fans in bangladesh, pak and Sri Lanka would be alienated. He wanted the title to be chak de only.

Anyways what's done is done. Both still have rocking careers. Humara kya jata hai?

in the history of Bollywood Many Big Stars has rejected movies for various reasons which some other stars signed ... some movies did wonders , some didn't

no one can sign every movie offered to them

Deewar's Shashi Kapoor'a Role was offered to Navin Nishchal who refused bcz he didn't want to play the Second lead

Lagaan was offered to SRK ( donnu why he rejected ).but we can't imagine SRK as Bhuvan , RDB's R. Madhvan's role was offered to SRK ( it cld be the best guest appearance ever but he refused just bcz AAmir was in the lead ) , ... Shahid , Hritik Refused Siddhart's role , after the release they even accepted that they regret that they refused it ...

big deal ...it happens ... and i kinda agree with Salman's reason too but what we got is also fine
