He has also been detained and strip-searched at airports and he was bashed publicly by his dad and brother. Salman is forever bashed by media, he's portrayed as this wild animal on the loose who's forever into drunk driving, beating women, fighting at parties, hitting anyone at will.

This is the problem with some SRK fans. They feel he's the only one facing problems. Just like the star is the only one to write articles on his issues.

What we feel...is due to what we see...let me give u a small example of this forum...Did u see what happened when that false article about SRK came out...how many over here bashed SRK...what happened when KH said much more harsh things about India...how much bashing do u see here for him...hardly any...The whole of BW stood up for KH...how many stood up for SRK...just a few that also when SRK sorted out things on his own...so buddy...we feel what we see...don't blame us...😆
And Ya I agree Aamir has been bashed for SMJ a lot ..

I don't get why they're taking SRK and Kamal Haasan's name in the same breath. That's like blasphemy for me! Kamal Haasan is exceptional. SRK is mediocre. And as for MF Hussain, WTH is he being brought into the mix? You cannot draw pictures of nude deities in the name of artistic liberty and get away scot free.

Does that prove the point that he mentioned in the article that he wrote??

Look even Kamal was criticised for country threat. But yes anyone from minority community would have received more backlash (not just Muslim but even Sikh) if he had threatened to leave the country.

SRK would've got mixed reactions. Some supporting him and giving sympathy, whereas some attacking him. His religion may have mattered but let's face it - he's also been in way more controversies than anyone else, has comparatively less "revered" status than a senior like Kamal so whenever he faces issues, even neutrals are like, "Ab kya hua isko?"
As much as his fans might hate it, it's fact he has less revered and less respectable image because of his irreverent acts at award shows and dozen controversies (which include brawls). A Kamal Haasan has had a "panga" now...whereas SRK keeps getting into controversies all the time.

Its all right Skep...I don't mind the bashers...I do mind the hypocrisy...and not talking about this forum but in general...
I do understand that KH is much more revered and talented than SRK or for that matter anyone in BW...but the lesser mortals deserve fairness too...thats the only point I want to make...

I don't think anyone from the minority community( I hate that term 'minority' BTW) would have recieved more backlash. Kamal is an atheist and has declared so on many occasions. He does not keep harping about his religious or non religious stance like SRK does. SRK tries so darn hard to become a Muslim icon. He says things like 'I see myself as an ambassdor of Islam'. Keep religion away man!! Talk about your work. I guess that's why he gets crucified more and if he'd made such a statement, I bet we'd have seen more hungama not coz he's a muslim but coz he keeps harping abt how he's a muslim in 'India'. As if it's a speciality. Say if an Aamir or Slaman had said it, ppl would be heartbroken. It's the person, I guess. Like someone on twitter said...SRK is detested not for his religion but for his arrogance. Kamal did recieve flak for that silly statement too.

SRK & Kamal Haasan, 'victims' of different strokes

I am not sure how much work Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik has these days. Not much I would imagine and judging by the time he spends worrying about Shahrukh Khan's security situation here in India, one would imagine that the interiors of Pakistan are in top order and need no ministering. Malik has pleaded earnestly with the Indian Government to provide security to Khan, like as if Khan is walking around without any security in the first place. Khan can afford ample private security on his own and frankly, why should the Government be wasting precious resources on a Star who is already more than capable of taking care of his own security needs. More importantly, when there are no signs of any immediate threat to the Actor in India, why bother deploying Government resources that are more urgently needed elsewhere?

This interference by Rehman Malik has obviously stemmed from the fact that India's King Khan in a recent interview with a foreign publication, has stated (that he) "sometimes becomes the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India." There have been occasions, he said, when he had been accused of "bearing allegiance to our neighboring nation rather than my own country – even though I am an Indian, whose father fought for India's freedom." Laughable really. King Khan has put his hands (yet again) into his pockets and pulled out a placard that reads. " I am a victim. Help"! And then, a terrorist in the name of Hafiz Saeed, extends his hand of 'friendship' from the other side of the fence and invites Khan to Pakistan if Khan feels jittery in India. So what should Khan be doing at a time like this? If he were a patriotic Indian as he claims to be, he should be telling the Hafizs and the Rehmans to worry primarily about the despicable situation of their own 'frustrated' country and invitations of stay (especially from classified terrorists) are not needed from them. There is little point in crying hoarse over the fact and making the same points over and over again that it is ridiculous for Khan to think he gets treated shabbily here in India. I think Khan knows a lot better than that, he would be a fool or a liar not to. Khan is who he is today not just because of the dint of his own hard work alone, but for the love and adulation that he receives from the masses who have never let religion divide them over their love for their on screen idols. This is a fact and for Khan to suddenly forget this every now and then is surprising. He enjoys playing the role of 'Raj' with selective amnesia; it is also time for 'Raj' to start diffusing his own bombs that he goes around placing here and there with his verbal diarrhea. Khan is a victim of his own stroke and not of any body else's doing.

And then there is Kamal Haasan, a self-proclaimed atheist, whose dream project has been extirpated by the narrowest of minds. It is indeed unfortunate that the multi faceted Actor is a victim of a ridiculous agenda. None of the reviews for the movie Vishwaroopam so far point to the direction that there are scenes in the movie or there are dialogues delivered that would irk a particular religion. The Government in its decision to ban the movie has stepped over the Central Board of Film Certification's approval. If the movie has pictured Al-Qaeda terrorists as radicals, then what is so surprising about it? As if Kamal Hassan has redefined Al-Qaeda behavioral patterns in his own unique and stylish way? So why are members of a particular community creating a drama over the movie and filing petitions for its ban? Bewildering. The High Court has asked Kamal Haasan to resolve the ban issue with the Government directly. Downright ridiculous. Whether it is the DMK or the AIADMK, both parties are equally responsible for punishing the film fraternity in their vendetta politics. Kamal Hassan has rightfully called the hijacking of his movie by the poorly informed and misplaced souls, as " cultural terrorism". He is most certainly right, cultural terrorism is gnawing its way into freedom in all walks of life, you cannot escape its tentacles. Kamal Hassan is a victim of this diabolic stroke.

But, one thing is clear, religious bigotry is not getting us anywhere. We Indians are getting more and more touchy about things we should not, and getting more and more thick skinned over things we ought to be touchy about. Dragging religion into everything is now a favorite pass time.

MF Hussain is brought into the mix because Kamal Haasan himself brought up the name as an example of moving to a secular country. The irony of course is that MF Hussain didn't move to a secular country. He spent most of his time in countries that allowed him to his particular artistic freedom, but secular countries they were not.

And he should have the right to draw pictures of nude deities. People can complain, boycott or protest. But the governments and courts should not infringe upon that right just because it 'hurts religious sentiments. But unfortunately such is not the case in many countries, which dictate that people don't have the right to artistic freedom if it hurts religious sentiments. 🥱

It's absolutely shameful that Kamal Haasan has to cut scenes just to appease some of these 'objectors.' It's not so far off from MF Hussain. There were those who defended him and didn't think he hurt religious sentiments. But there were those who filed complaints and protested. Not so different from Kamal Haasan's situation. Many say there's nothing wrong with it, but then there are those who insist it hurts their religious sentiments.

Slippery slope, when some are given more validity than others.

I agree with you, the problem is whatever he says is either misquoted or misjudged.
I love him speak, but i feel in future he should n't even bother to discuss some issues, coz all the media does is manipulate. And i donno how many of them even watched the video were he clarified the issue, no wonder unwanted brickbats for no fault of his.

I know...that would be the smart thing to do...I hope that by now Shahrukh must have realized that India is not a democratic and secular country...so there is only so much freedom in the name of constitution...rest of it is a sham...so hopefully he has learned his lesson this time...to keep his mouth zipped...
