Actor or actress who is opposite to main actor /actress ((Hritik Dhoom2, Rani for Talaash, PC for Barfi) is consider as an main actor or actresses other consider as supporting actor or actress (Abhishesk Dhoom.2, Kareena for Talaash, Illena for Barfi)

it's the seniority of the actor in question

the industry follows a hierarchy...

and i am ofcourse talking about seniority of actors who the movie revolves around...not actors like reema lagoo/dimple kapadia/waheeda ji etc..who are much more senior but not pivotal to the theme:)

Hrithik was nominated for best actor.He was not nominated in the villain category as far I remember.

on topic technically supporting character r determined by the length of their role in the story the screen space how does they contribute in the part of story .the story wont be revolving around them but without them it wont move

BUT in Bollywood like maddy said it all gets reduced into stardom .jo bada star vo main character aur chottu stars supporting

Chalo maan li ke Bollywood & media recognize a superstar as the main protagonist & the co-star as the supporting... But, as Koiza said & as the koimoi link I provided on page 4, I can see media is categorizing Kareena as a supporting cast.

My question, is Rani a bigger star than Kareena? Chudail ka Badlaa... sorry 😆... Talaash was the story of Rosie. Kareena is still the demanding star. Still media is categorizing Rosie as supporting character! 🤔

Is this because, Kareena is craving for an award? Badly. & her PR knows very well that it's not possible this year because she has to fight with PeeCee/Sridevi/Deepika/Kat/Vidya/... Probably, it's her PR that's trying to get her nominated for the Best Actor Female in a Supporting Role. Reason why we are reading articles where she's recognized as one of the best supporting cast of the year for Talaash. 🤔

well mogz its the latter as i dont think Bebo will get an award for heroine because of its dismal performance at BO although she acted well and in Talaash no matter story was revolved around her but it was an Aamir movie if u look at bigger picture rosie was not such a strong or impactful role but they have to give her awards so if they give for best actress they know media slander them as we had amazing performances this year from sri ,vidya and priyanka and bebo's role was not that impactful . they r aiming two birds with one stone .kareena ko award bi mile aur media bi chup rahe

The one who has most important role in the movie is the lead actor.
All other actors are supporting.

So Deepika and Diana both are leads of Cocktail and Saif is the supporting actor.

But in Bollwood the one with less fan following is tagged as the supporting as the supporting actor.
