Aah! That's a tough one! I liked both of them equally...they both had almost equal screen-time and they both had meaty roles...but I think I liked Varun a tad more than Sid!

Varun had a more layered role and his character was most definitely the best written in the film, so he did have an edge that way! To his credit, he does complete justice to his role and performs like a pro in the emotional scenes! His dialouge delivery is slightly jarred at places, but otherwise, it was tough to believe that he is a rookie actor!

Sid seems to be more of a method actor...the types who grow on you slowly! His character was a bit of a jerk towards the end, so somehow you end up getting your sympathies for the other guy! But I think Sid as an actor did a really, really good job in the film and frankly it is difficult to pinpoint where he went wrong!

i loved yami and ayushman but still feel they were seasoned actors becoz the good amount of telly they have done before as compared to these 3 my dream would be to see sid and varun sharing the best debut award ( it will remain a dream i am 120% sure but spanon ka paisa thodi na lagta hai ) and diana penty for cocktail she was gud as meera

I loved SOTY though!

Alia no way deserves best newcomer (I just want her back in school😆)...it should be a contest between Yami and Ilena! Diana Penty should also be in the contest, but I haven't seen Cocktail yet, so no idea how good or bad she was!

Regarding the boys, I seriously don't know! Arjun had the toughest role to perform amongst the four, Ayushman made a non-star film into one of the year's most talked about hits, Varun and Siddharth are creating waves already with their star appeal and performances!

I have a feeling that the award will be a shared one...but can't imagine which two will be sharing it!

I have seen Vicky Donor, Cocktail, Ishaqzaade, SOTY, and Barfi...basically all the films with the talked about debuts...

Amongst the women, it should be Ileana's award hands down. Yami being a close second. Diana Penty is definitely not a patch on these two, not to mention her character was a massive bore. Alia doesn't deserve the award, AT ALL. Ileana and Yami added SO much to their characters and the film overall as well. Ileana was better though...to hold your own in a film with the other 2 characters being differently-abled is not easy.

With the guys, it'll be harder to choose, but like I already said pages back, I still think Ayushman is the most deserving, though I have a feeling it will be a shared one.

Ideally, the award should go to 'outsiders' and set a good example in bollywood!

So even though I absolutely loved Varun and Arjun❤️ to bits, I think it would be nice to see Ayushman and Sid winning it!

Varun and Arjun will have it slightly easy in the industry, since both their fathers are established producer / director, but the newcomers will have to keep struggling for sometime! So it would be good to see them getting a head-start on things!

Yami was superb in Vicky Donor and she does look breathtakingly gorgeous, but overall, I think Ilena was talked about more for her role in Barfi in comparison to Yami! What the heck! They too can share the award!😆

^Yeah, but that is kinda unlikely unfortunately...I really don't see Yami winning.

There will be so much sharing this year: best actress, best actor debut, best film, probably best director 😆

yeah all outsiders should be tremendously encouraged- ayushman sid yami ilena and even diana ( she was sweet ) the others still have support but these ppl should be welcomed by the industry with open arms why the hell does it happen that in 1 yr theres no talent and another yr theres talent bursting out cant it be balanced

i remember the year where both rock on and jaane tu were huge hits and imran ( my fav again i know he cant act properly till now but boy his sweet looks he has potential if he signs the right films lets see what matru does for him ) and farhan shared the award so let this year let the male debut be shared btw 4 - sid varun arjun and ayushman why not they are all freaking talented
