The actor, who turned 28 yesterday, is down with typhoid

Instead of blowing out his birthday candles yesterday, Aftab Shivdasani who is down with typhoid was nursing himself back to health. But as a pre-birthday celebration, Yana Gupta dropped in to wish the birthday boy, the evening before. "She came with two cakes, one for me and the other for my father. We share a birthday. My father turned 59 this year. We usually go out for dinner with my mom to celebrate or birthday jointly. But this year we're all at home," he says.

"This has got to be one of the worst birthday of my life," says Aftab, who turned 28 yesterday. "But it could've been worse. I was supposed to be in Karachi for the premiere of Mughal-e-Azam. But that got postponed because of Javed Akhtar saab's visa problem. Otherwise I'd have missed that too."

The illness has meant Aftab rearranging his schedule. "It's a setback. I had to cancel a few days of Vikram Bhatt's Red. But such things can't be helped." So, it's a bed-ridden birthday for Aftab? "Not quite that tragic," he says. "My close friends, none of whom are from the film industry, dropped by in the evening."
