Unfair to compare the actresses, everyone holds their own. But i think she hasnt surpassed them. She probably has surpassed PREITY, who was a bit awkward, imo, In her delivery and role potrayal.

Cinema is different from what it was back in the 90's, there was more substance and kareena didnt even fair well in the early 2000's when the transition in cinema was happening.so, put her in the 90's, i think she'd bomb. Shes todays heroine; and i cant imagine a 90's heroine doing what shes doing either.

I agree! I can DEF imagine vidya in raNgeela and being perfect, ofcourse after some weight loss. Shedbe perfect with the innocence and the sparkle in the eyes. Damn...got me thinking how good shed be. Shed probably do a better job than urmila.

can you pls tell me which movies kareena did were rejects? if you are taliking about bodyguard, and ra 1 where of course she stood behind the actors to join the 100cr club. was jwm a reject? as far as i know she became more popular only after jwm.

and kareena can EASILY pull a bombay and ek hasina thi, BUT can either manisha and urmila pull a jwm?

as for vidya..i don't think vidya can pull a jwm either, but yes now i want to see if kareena can pull a dirty picture..ala a HEROINE. lets wait and watch.

If Kareena nails Heroine, there's no stopping her.

She's already straddling Vidya and Katrina.

Vidya can act, but doesnt have mass following.

Kat has mass following, but cant act well.

If Bebo nails Herione, she'll conquer the USPs of both.

Yikes...kareena pulling a Bombay? Maybe, but hard to imagine. Manisha was so subtle and powerful at the same time. It would be grossly unfair to say she can pull it of THAT WELL. Not doubting kareenas ability, its there allright, but not on level with Manisha. C'mon people...did u forget Dil se? What a frikkin epic performance that was even though the movie bombed. That scene in the desert when she cant cry? Tsk tsk, not likely for ANY ACTRESS, kareena or vidya to give a performance like that. Maybe Madhuri, but no one else in hell can top it.

JWM was a great movie, i loved it, and Kareena put life into Geet, and i dont want to imagine anyone else doing it. But CAN someone else do it? Most likely, nothing extrodinary, but will it be the same? Not likely, because kareena brought something special to the character that was completely HER.

Kareenas a great actress by todays standard and she has tough competition in the likes of Vidya in the acting dept, thats about it. And no denying she has a huge fan base, which has always worked in her favor. What more can a lassy want? 😆 I hope shes secure enough to not care about Kats popularity because shes got nothing on kareena.

desu..i am sorry, today vidya has more mass following than kareena. dirty picture and kahanni changed everyting. emaet , had young pairing, struggled at the boxoffice. dirty picture, and kahaani...scored big ...especially kahaani. wait for ghanchakar..i think that ones going to open big & if wom is good...another hit for vidya. kareena CANNOT open a movie on her own. period. barring jwm...none of movies did well ...pls lets leave 3 idiots, bodyguard, and ra 1...cos we all know, take kareena out of these movies...result would have been same. 100cr .

heroine is probably THE most important movie of kareenas. if its a hit, she may still find few takers...but if it fails...is it going to be an early exit for bebo? it will be very interesting to see where she goes from here...

Also, why would anyone compare urmila and kareena? Kareena >>>urmila. Urmilas had some good perrformances but nothing thats left a mark save rangeela and eht which came almost at the end of her career. Oh and also pyar tune kya kiya. Just a handful, really.

kareena was subtle in omkara and powerful in dev - so what just in one scene...watch her in that scene where she tries to save herself fromt the rioters, i remember she got some very good reveiws for her performance. dil se. hell maybe i am the only one who don't find manisha exceptional in the movie. her performance was flawed and i say so was in 1942 love story. yes she was good in these movies, but NOTHING mindblowing.

as for jwm...c'mon who better can mouth this dialogue:

"main apni favorite hoon"

if today i hv to pick THE performance of an actress...hahhh...koi doubt nahi..its GEET.

Starpower/fan following is best measured by the opening of a film.

Compare EMAET's opening to Kahaani, Paa, NOKJ, all films except The Dirty Picture. Kahaani came after TDP right?

Compare its opening to EMAET.

EMAET struggled and fell. Some found it too dull, some found it a good one time watch, but nothing that you'd recommend to others. Nothing exceptional. Kahaani on the other hand was a GOOD film. It grew from week to week, literally. Its numbers increased over time.

That's WOM, not fan following.

Did you know Agent Vinod had a larger opening than Cocktail? Though Cocktail was a huge hit, but AV a flop?

But you know, what did people go in for that made AV a larger opening? Surely, cocktail's genre was safer and a good option.

twelve years in the industry, a Chameli a JWM and a Kambakht Ishq size zero and

phoren designer clothes couldnt get her to number one properly. Ash and katrina

were firmly perched on top.
