VIdya cannot exceed the 90s actresses either.
ESPECIALLY not Urmila. Can you imagine Vidya pulling of a Rangeela?
Nope, Vidya just doesnt have it in her to do commercial films. She tried and failed miserably. She should just stick to her kinda cinema.

^i named Vidya as a stand out in today's actresses and not with the comparison with 90's actresses...she has an edge becoz she chooses strong women oriented and gets success.

this topic is STUPID to the core !

I dunno Nitu, if Heroine works, and if Kareena, IF she manages to give a standout performance, I'd say that will put her on par with the 90s gals.
Coz not only does she have the glam and fanbase, she can give standout performances.
And if she lands a national award for Heroine, that would be something.

lets see what happens.

lol, well either way..I can say for sure that most people will agree that Ranbir in a span of 5 yrs has better performances than Salman who has been working for 2 decades. Point is, Ranbir's the better actor, he has better performances (acting, dancing, delivering dialogues, choice of films etc) with merely a few films. So just because I've grown up watching Salman, I would never say he has better performances than Ranbir. No nostalgic factor there for me at least. Salman's the superstar that Ranbir may never be..but in terms of acting I think most people would agree that Ranbir's better.

Likewise, I do think Kareena's a better actress than some of the ladies from the 90s..but to say she has surpassed them all is far fetched. I really don't think it has anything to do with nostalgia.

Totally agree!!

even though kareena is popular, i dont think shes at par with the 90's actresses, atleast not in my mind. i think sridevi and madhuri were way more popular than kareena is now but there was no internet bck then so its harder to know. apparently madhuri used to be paid as much or more than the male actors in her movies and she was often signed for movies before any male actor was signed which is very rare even today, nowadays female actors get paid a fraction of the male actor and when u think of a movie, lets say bodygaurd, and someone asks whose movie is that u immediately remember salman khan, and then kareena comes in ur mind much later and to be honest anyone culd have been there without much change in the movie. but lets say u think of hum aapke hain kaun, the first thought that comes to peoples minds is madhuri dixit. that film wud be incomplete without her and she was one of the main reasons for it being such a success. i just feel like all the actresses of this generation are hell bent on being the most fashionable, having the best item song, being in the most potentially commercially succesful films even if it means being reduced to a showpiece. and as many people have stated , nostalgia plays no part in this for me since i was a very young child when madhuri was at her peak and i wasnt even born when she started acting. i started watching movies in the early 2000s when i was a kid and ive only recenltly watched many of madhuris movies and the feeling u get from watching movies of the 90's and even before is uncomparable to todays. its not just kareena, the whole film industry is completely different so its hard to compare. i dont know what im trying to say...hmmm...kareena is good in this day and age but i prefer actresses of the 90's and earlier. just realized this is so long no ones gonna read it :)

If you have left Madhuri Kajol and Juhi the awesome three out of the scope, then what's left in the discussion regarding Actresses of 90's ? 😆..

Of course she did..

I can =/ haha
If we're talking about Vidya's weight, she can shed that for a role. I think she has the energy and potential in her to be able to pull something like that off successfully

No Kareena had not exceeded the 90 actress. Her acting is average, she can not dance for the life worth.

Sridevi and Madhuri have lots of memorable movies in their kitty while Kareena has one.

90's actresses precisely had one strong factor in them which made them in a league of their own
kajol: acting
juhi: comic timing
madhuri: dance
and others like this. Madhuri and sri devi were more of having the entire package (exceptional)
nonetheless they were known for their specific quality. If manisha didnt know how to dance, she never tried it over and over again, remained focused on her acting in some great performances.
With kareena, the problem lies in that she wants to do it all, be it item numbers despite not being a good dancer and everything, Variation is good but then again it makes her lose that one thing these 90's actresses were known for.

well said! :)
however..I think she's not BEATEN those 90's actresses, but she definately is somewhere on par with them or a little lower level than where those actresses stood..
I'd also like to include TABU to the 90's actresses' list.
PS - There was nothing so khaas about Madhuri, sometimes her facial expressions were great, dancing was good(yes, better than all the actresses of those times).. but not SOOO mind-blwoing as it is made out to be. Hence she is considered as a complete package. But I dont think Madhuri would beat Kareena in terms of acting.
I'd place Kareena on par with Kajol in terms of acting.
