Rowdy Rathore Looking At Huge Monday

Rowdy Rathore is looking at huge business on Monday with the early collections coming in suggesting a 9 crore nett Monday.

The film held up extremely well on monday with single screens doing extraordinary business and multiplexes recording excellent business. A circuit like Delhi/UP seems like showing just a 30% drop from Friday and could come out with around 2 crore nett business. Other circuits are looking to drop in the 35-45% range.

Overall its a huge Monday and the film should cross 75 crore nett for its first week business.

Rowdy Rathore has had one of biggest Monday's ever as collections come in around 9 crore nett. The collections are less than Dabangg and Three Idiots which went over 10 crore nett on Monday but on par but better than films like Bodyguard, Ready, Agneepath, Don2, Golmaal 3 and Housefull 2. The top Monday collections are as follows.

1. Dabangg - 10.75 crore

2. Three Idiots - 10.50 crore

3. Rowdy Rathore - 9 crore

4. Bodyguard - 8.75 crore

5. Golmaal 3 - 8.25 crore

-. Don 2 - 8.25 crore

7. Ready - 8 crore

8. Agneepath - 7.5 crore

'Rowdy Rathore' picks up rapidly

ROWDY RATHORE had a slow start in the international markets, but gathered steam from Saturday onwards. The slow start could be attributed to the '15' certificate, which kept a chunk section of the movie-going audience away. Even otherwise, masala films, with hardcore action, have an ordinary start in the international arena. The silver lining in this case [ROWDY RATHORE] is that the business of the film has shown an upward trend, a healthy growth over the weekend. The film has performed the best in U.A.E

Weekend: June 01 – 03, 2012.

U.K. & IRELAND BOX-OFFICE

ROWDY RATHORE: In its opening weekend, the film has collected 1,45,541 [Rs. 1.24 crores] on 60 screens, with the per screen average working out to 2,426.

MAYAMOHINI [Malayalam]: In its fourth weekend, the film has collected 1,441 on 6 screens, with the per screen average working out to 240. Total: 28,043 [Rs. 23.86 lacs].

HOUSEFULL 2: In its ninth weekend, the film has collected 1,362 on 1 screen. Total: 9,92,423 [Rs. 8.44 crores].

RAHE CHARDI KALA PUNJAB DI [Punjabi]: In its second weekend, the film has collected 348 on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to 174. Total: 5,124 [Rs. 4.36 lacs].

JANNAT 2: In its fifth weekend, the film has collected 30 on 1 screen. Total: 1,05,091 [Rs. 89.40 lacs].

U.S.A. BOX-OFFICE

ROWDY RATHORE: In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 3,81,784 [Rs. 2.12 crores] on 120 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 3,182.

DEPARTMENT: In its third weekend, the film has collected $ 426 on 4 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 107. Total: $ 94,707 [Rs. 52.70 lacs].

Rowdy Rathore All Set To Cross Ra.One, Ghajini

As predicted in this column last week, Rowdy Rathore is now officially the best opener ever for Akshay Kumar. The way film carried immense buzz and hype for itself, the film was always looking at a Rs. 45-50 crore opening for itself. The theatrical run went as per the script and resultantly the film has now managed over Rs. 48 crore for itself.

This Prabhu Devaa directed film has now turned out to be one of those rare instances in recent times when the word of mouth has been largely positive. It is above average for some, good for most and very good for quite a few as well. With no negative word of mouth whatsoever (except from a segment of critics who were perhaps expecting The Shawshank Redemption from Sanjay Leela Bhansali here), the film has been lapped up in a major way by the masses.

The film's super success has proven once again that masala has never really gone out of vogue and the trend is only going to continue for time to come. Of course the shape and format may change, what with a saturation point expected to be reached for the south Indian remakes. However with Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger promising masala as well without getting into the remake zone, expect several mass pleasing films in years ahead.

Housefull 2, Ra.One, Ghajini Movie Posters

As for the man of the moment, Akshay Kumar, the film is now second consecutive biggie for him afterHousefull 2. With Rowdy Rathore aiming for Rs. 100 crore in two weeks, the next target is Rs. 120 crore.Agneepath, the highest grosser of the year so far, has collected this amount for Hrithik Roshan and it should now be surpassed by Akshay Kumar. In the process Housefull 2, Shah Rukh Khan's Ra. One and Aamir Khan's Ghajini should be left behind, all of which collected in the range of Rs. 115 crore.
