Nikki...Regarding the Jessica Lal and the Kataria case, these two are very rare instances and they touched the chords of people bcoz of the relentless pursuit by Sabrina Lal and Neelam Kataria... They kept the fight on... They went to press, they gave interviews to news channels and newspapers... They kept the news fresh in people's minds and and people too in a way became emotionally involved in these cases... And when the justice was not served the public did make a huge uproar and that did help in these cases...
Here in the drunk driving cases... Who were the witnesses... Couple of migrants... Its easy to buy their silence and do they even have a choice...

Not less valuable but less noticeable and less sensation-worthy. For every Jessica Lal who came in the spotlight there are a 100 such cases that go unreported. Harish who was killed by Salman was a poor driver and he even called up the police stating that Salman had first tried to buy him off and then later that he had threatened to get him killed ...but no one paid heed. All they are willing to write in court is that the witness is absconding and has "turned hostile" (the legal term) Turned hostile? Really? He is lying somewhere under 5 feet of dirt or in a body of water... that is where he is... but no one seems to even lodge a missing person's report or even care.

What a sad state of affairs, no wonder India lags behind other countries so much. People might kick, scream or cry that western countries are no better (punishing the wealthy), but I have seen a lot of cases where no matter how successful, powerful or wealthy a person is, if the crime is proven then he/she gets punished as needed. But I guess as they say money not only talks but can also buy silence 😡.

SMS jokes refer to his flirting with homosexuality, but that does not ring true. He shows little sign of being effeminate.

This line amuses me because of something else the author makes sure to mention in the article, but I'm guessing that he obviously has very little knowledge of that very thing he mentioned.

And very few, if any, will get what I'm talking about. But it amuses me. 😆

Its just as bad anywhere as it is in India. The thing is the law has many loopholes and if you have money those loopholes keep getting bigger and bigger.

OJ Simpson got off a murder charge with DNA evidence.
Kobe Bryant got off a Rape charge. His legal team consisted of the best lawyers in the country and reportedly cost 16 million dollars. The victim turned hostile and was bought off.
Don King
Snoop Dogg
Brandy - Very similar case to Salman Khan where a road worker was killed. It was deemed an accident.

It has nothing to do with being a celebrity. If you're rich, you're above the law. You can buy the best lawyers in the world. Assemble the best legal team. Buy off witnesses. Out of court settlements with the victim.

Is it right. Absolutely not. But thats just the way it is, not just in India but everywhere.

I was reading today abt Praful Patel on how he used his authority to change flights to accomadate his family members... 7 members of his daughter's family wanted to fly to Maldives.. The AI flight did not have enough business class seats on the scheduled smaller flight so he made sure a bigger flight was assigned on the days of the to and fro travel dates... This ended up in lot of losses for AI bcoz each way more that 50 seats were vacant... Pathetic state of affairs...
BTW... You shld post more here... I remember u mentioned in the past that you live in Mumbai... We need more scoop...😆

Just moved to Mumbai last year after donkey's years spent living in the US and other countries. I've been a silent reader of this forum. Sort of stumbled on it by accident. Started watching Hindi movies only when I was living alone overseas.

Actually, I was actively following a high profile case for personal reasons and maintaining a website to expose media bias in that case. I sort of started becoming more sensitive to all media bias after that.
