Sanjay Dutt
Shabana Azmi and Vandana Luthra
On Women's day, VLCC presented Fuel, their new range for men comprising a face wash, after-shave balm, shaving gel, hair cleanser and hair styling gel, at the Grand Hyatt.

The range was unveiled by Kapil Dev. Also seen at the do were Marc Robinson, Tania Zaetta, Shabana Azmi, Madhur Bhandarkar, Suchitra Pillai, Pooja Bhatt and Manish Makhija (who hung outdoors instead of being part of good friend Vandana's celebration).

Another surprise guest was Sanjay Dutt who walked in but had to leave immediately to dine with the contestants of a beauty pageant at the same hotel.

The bloopers though were the overdose of all the activities that are considered to be manly. A boxing ring replaced the stage, a very sad show of kick boxers doing their thing within the ring, a rock band took center stage, and competitions like beer drinking and fist fights were what made the venue look like a carnival for men.
We swear by AD's wine

Restaurateur AD Singh knows how to keep his bunch of friends in high spirits.

At another exotic wine tasting session at Olive Bar and Kitchen, we saw our Bolly crawlies including Tara Sharma with beau Roopak Saluja, Konkona Sen Sharma with a slim Ranvir Shorey in tow, Pooja Bedi making a fashion statement in a polka dotted robe.

While Koko (as Konkona is fondly known) indulged in some friendly banter with Tara, their respective beaus couldn't do much except for munching on some Tuna salad and of course gulping down the wine on display. And yes, Madame Bedi kept the conversations rolling with a tip or two for the lovey-dovey couples. Host Singh was seen personally refilling the glasses of the gathered bunch. So now you know why people hover around him?
All in the family

Akshay Kumar with sister Alka
When Akshay Kumar's sister Alka Kapoor opens a brand new spa, it is but obvious that the family brigade makes their presence felt on the occasion.

Akshay Kumar was at the venue, with wife Twinkle Khanna and mother-in-law Dimple Kapadia were there to try out a lot more than just the spa. A whole lot of activities was what kept the guests very much relaxed to their seats.

Twinkle tried out some acupunture and even some nail art as well. Dimple looked as lovely as ever and was off as soon as she inaugurated the new spa. Alka says, "Aroma Garden completes two years and the success has made me take up this new step.

The spa also has a whole range of treatments the meet international standards." Also present at the venue were some of Mumbai's hot models. Says Shahwar Ali, "I tried the foot massage and it's heavenly."
It's ok to Wink

Sunil Shetty with wife Mana Aditi Gowitrikar with hubby Yusuf Lakdawala
The good old Library Bar at The Taj President has been replaced by Wink.

The brand new bar opened its doors last night, and hardcore townie Sunil Shetty was there to cheer the place with wife Mana.

Also spotted were Poonam Soni, Kishen Mulchandani, Aditi Gowitrikar with hubby Yusuf Lakdawala, and Shivani Kapur with Rocky S. The place was packed and buzzed till 3 am. What a way to start!

Who's Lars?

Lars and Suchitra Pillai
Looking for Suchitra Pillai's husband at a party is easy. All you need to look out for is this very quiet foreigner, standing away from the crowd as he waits for wifey to finish giving her many interviews, casually sipping on a drink looking quite lost.

He often spends his evening accompanying his wife to all the major dos in town.

We spoke to him at one party, this is what he had to say about Mid Day, "I read Mid Day very often. I think it's hard and direct and that's how a newspaper should be."

Thanks Lars, and the next time you feel a bit lost at a party, a copy of Mid Day could bail you out.

Kumkum's generation leap

Kumkum
Kumkum and Co are getting older. The latest to join the fast forward bandwagon is Star's afternoon soap, Kumkum. It is learn that the channel folks had a meeting with the producers, BAG Films, a few days ago. The daily is slated to have a 20-year leap in April.

Along with the generation next, Kumkum will also air five days a week. Apparently Kumkum's actors have agreed to be part of the leap. Though the new cast has yet to be finalised, Kumkum (Juhi Parmar), who is pregnant, will deliver twins.

This will make her mother of three kids (there's already one child, Dhruv (Ronak Bhatiya) from Jatin (Anuj Saxena).

The leap will provide yet another twist to Kumkum and Sumeet's (Hussain Kuwajerwalla) saga. Meanwhile the character of Jatin's impersonator Manik (Saxena) makes an exit from the show when Kumkum's Gen Next arrives.
