Three to Tango!

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (SEL) did a magnificent job with last year's BUNTY AUR BABLI and got their reward (or award?) this year when they were bestowed with the Apsara honor. Their music played an important role in the film's box-office success. The talented musical trio has again proved their mettle and no doubt have inched up on the popularity charts this summer!

While Bollywood is familiar with the music director duo concept, these three renowned musicians set a new fashion of musical 'trio', hitherto unknown to the industry. They were to make their debut with the late Mukul Anand's DUS, but Anand's sudden demise obstructed the film's release. However the film's music was released and the industry took notice of the trio's exhilarating musical score. The song 'Suno Gaur Se Duniyawalon' became an instant hit. There was no looking back then for these three young and talented composers.

Their filmography is extremely impressive. Their credits include such blockbusters as MISSION KASHMIR, DIL CHAHATA HAI and KAL HO NAA HO. Their work in movies like LAKSHYA, SHOOL, EK AUR EK GYARAH is equally remarkable. Their music blends as diverse forms as Indian classical music, pop, electronica and trance. The fusion of these different styles just culminates perfectly and the result is this eclectic sound that is both fresh and absorbing.

SEL balances both their film assignments and their live shows efficiently. While Shankar regularly does stage shows with the fusion band SHAKTI, Ehsaan and Loy have got their own blues band. So it's a juggling act between studio recordings and live concerts. The three are currently busy composing the score for Karan Johar's next directorial flick KABHI ALVIDA NA KEHNA and also for Nikhil Advani's subsequent SALAAM-E-ISHQ. Both are highly anticipated films of 2006.

So SEL's hands are full at this moment. Their fans are in for a relishing treat this year and hoping that the three geniuses will keep up their splendid reputation alive and kickin'! Well so far so good we can say about them that 'three's a company' but hey just a word of caution, as they say 'teen tigaada kaam bigaada', hope they are listening!
