Kulraj completes her Mannat

Shot like Bolly film

"It's a love story based on true life events. I have just returned from Punjab, where I shot for the film."

Scheduled to release in April, she says the film has been shot on the scale of any other Bllywood film. "I didn't think I was working in a regional movie. The promos and the treatment, too, are exactly like a commercial masala movie."

Directed by Gurbir Singh Grewal and with music by Jaidev Kumar and Shafqat Ali Khan, Mannat was wrapped up in almost a month's time. The film also has Kanwaljeet Singh and Deep Dhillon in supporting roles.

"Though it is a Punjabi film, it doesn't have the usual bhangra and clichd treatment. The subject is really moving, and will create an impact on anyone who watches it. I also love the music that is a blend of soft pop with sufi influences."

No dailies for Kulraj

On the television front, Kulraj isn't too keen on taking up a daily show at the moment. "I would love to host a talk show, or even a travel show. But I don't want to take on a daily for the sake of it. I am also looking towards films and meeting producers."

Tips from Jimmy

On her experience of working with Jimmy Shergill, she said, "He's a chilled-out person, and we had great fun shooting in Punjab. He gave me lots of inputs on how to improve my performance. Both of us love the culture, the sights and sounds of Punjab so it we would end up talking long hours about it."
