I know that temple very well. It is interesting to see all the doors closed and Aishwarya alone in the main sanctum and no devotee even in the outer area - where the mouse is placed. Did they close all traffic just for her? That would be really out of the ordinary - considering it is Ganesh Chaturthi season and very crowded still. I have not seen them close the main doors for even the Shankaracharyas...this is really unprecedented.
I highly oppose any special treatment given to stars/politicians at religious places, because before god we are all equal, but I can understand a star being given a different treatment here. It is not necessarily because they are stars so they have to be treated specially, but image the havoc it would wreak if stars gets mixed up with people in the temple, obviously god will no longer be the centre of attraction. And this could cause stampedes, etc. So to prevent this, the normal darshan can be halted for a quick few minutes and let the star take the darshan and leave. This would make sure everything remains peaceful.
But the previous times Aishwarya visited the temple, the doors weren't closed, she visited along with the aam junta. (Tune to 3:00 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qLco4su5w0). I think the special treatment is because she is heavily pregnant and is in a delicate state. So it is understandable. Even if people mind it for a star, they wouldn't mind it for a pregnant woman I guess.
