Can AISH really ACT or NOT?!!

Okay, we have analyzed Priyanka and now it is Aish's turn. 😉 I know a lot of topics have also been made about Aish's acting ability and what not, but I really want to get down to the bottom of why some still think to this day that Aish cannot act!! The lady has had a very good run before she got pregnant. She gave numerous and strong performances in films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Taal, Josh, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Devdas, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, Guru, Provoked, Jodhaa Akbar, Sarkar Raj, and the latest being Guzaarish. Even her debut film Iruvar was acclaimed and she even shined in a small role for Khakee. I think in at least 15 films which I just mentioned have been worth watching. She clearly has excelled in dramatic and performance oriented roles. But, her forte hasn't been the masala films. She was terrible in Jeans, Albela, Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Dil Ka Rishta, Kyun...! Ho Gaya Na and just about okay in films like Kuch Naa Kaho, Bride & Prejudice, and Dhoom 2. At least she has tried just about every film you can think of: the commercial films, the low-budget, the big-budget historicals, the stupid movies, etc. Her film variety is very impressive, you cannot deny that.

With out sounding mean i dont think she can act. Not once has any of her performance moved me barring the last 2 mins of Devdas which ill give half credit to the background music lol. But yeah most of the time she makes me cringe.

I liked her in HDDCS and Tall and thats all. she is bad at comady

Btw I just attempted to watch Action Replay...barfff...woman can't do comedy...

That movie is unbearable. The attempt at comedy was like W*F? Seriously, all those guards and shopping bags...?

On topic: I actually like watching aishwariya in drama's and period films. I think she shows lots of emotion with her eyes. I loved her acting in Provoked and Devdas, so for me she is a good actress.

she has certain types of roles she performs really well in & others not so much

she is an amazing actor!! actor par excellence! truly amazing! and I think she did wonders in DEVDAS! no one else could have done it better then her! Kareea also auditioned for it, but she did not get the role! apart from that her performances in HDDCS, Taal, Jodha Akbar, Guzaarish, Provoked etc. has also been pretty good!

@Goneforever: I did not say HDDCS and Devdas were bad performances but they were no great shakes either like they are made out to be. There was a lot of hamming in some of the scenes. She wasn't decent throughout. Whereas in Raincoat, I forgot it was Aishwarya, she played Neeru almost to perfection.
