Rather than saying that the audience is attracted to hot, unmarried women, I would say that its the role which a woman is portraying on screen. Munni was a RIOT and who was Munni? Malaika Arora Khan, a married woman and a mother. Nowadays when the word Munni comes, the image of Malaika flashes in the mind.

For me, all the actress who are mothers still have that glow. Karishma looks stunning all the time, Juhi still has that young, carefree spark in her despite the fact that her movie choices are completely hatke from the ones of a mainstream actress. Kajol is basically Kajol. She was always like this, not caring much about her career and only following what she thought was right. Madhuri is gorgeous and despite the fact that Aaja Nachle failed at BO, the title song and her dance moves were praised.

About Aish? Well you can't always remain a beauty queen forever. Actresses come and go just like fashion. Aaj ek hit, kal dusri. Its upto the actress how she maintains her position. Because lovers will love and haters will hate. So it really doesn't mean whether the actress decides to pursue her career or pay more attention to her family life.

Personally I would love to see some of the old timers back cast opposite oldies like the top 3 Khans, Saif, Sanjay Dutt. Many of them still look attractive even if they are on the plump side. It makes me cringe to see the oldies act opposite twenty something girls like Deepika, Sonakshi. Why cant people act their age?

^ wordd!

totally agreed.
It's just a shame that directors don't offer married/mom actresses good roles anymore. For some reason its assumed or something, that they won't bring in the same audiences.

I think Dimple Kapadia is cool in that sense, that she did so well in Saagar even after marriage

TMK's USP was Sheila Ki Jawaani. The collections the film got was all thanks to Kat's hot act. Now imagine a Kajol in the song. Would she be able to draw the same response from the audience? The answer is NO. A film won't be a hit or flop just based on the marital status of the heroine, BUT an unmarried (hence sexy, hot) heroine attracts more audience to the theatres than a married (hence aunty jee) heroine. So you see why the unmarried ones are preferred.

80-90% of India has no idea who this Chitrangada Singh is. So most people who watch her films don't have a clue about her personal life. So her marital status doesn't affect her. But one thing I can be damn sure of is, she will never be popular because her marriage will hamper any further development in her career. Let's see how she does.

Ash is counted among the Queens who ruled Bollywood for more than a decade... like Madhuri, Sridevi, etc. So she will always be remembered. And even if her comeback flops, she will continue enjoying her iconic status like Madhuri is doing now. But one thing for sure, her fan-base is super strong. She will continue to get great roles unlike Juhi.

Malaika was the munni in Dabbang and am sure that she was the reason for atleast a few people to watch the movie. But the movie was actually a hit because of Salman's antics.
Katrina's shiela did just that i.e. to bring a few people to movie hall but TMK was actually not a superhit. Now I think Malaika is a sexier than Katrina even though the former is married.

If Chitrangdha's movies turn out to be hits at BO, then there is no way that producers will not offer her more movies. Who wouldn't want to cash in on a movie star's status? I mean producers after all make movies to earn money.

Ash never ruled bollywood. She was always considered to be beautiful and a decent actress but never the iconic actor like Madhuri/Sridevi. Infact it was only after her marriage to Bachchan that she started getting those big offers again otherwise she had actually moved to hollywood because there weren't many great offers (except a few) coming her way after her violent breakup with Salman. So, as I said that she will always be considered good looking but if her come back movies aren't hits, she may never get lead roles or roles specifically written for her. I remember watching a KWK show with Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman just after the release of Bhagban. They both mentioned that were dying to act again but nobody was writing roles for them anymore. And tell you the truth Hema and Zeenat have also enjoyed the popularity for their being beauty queens just like Ash and they were fine actors too. Hema still gets some roles opposite BigB because of their Bhagban chemistry and Zeenat is nowhere to be seen except in a few roles in some off-beat movies. This is what will happen to Ash as well if her comeback movies aren't hits.

Regarding Malaika, she has never been a big actress or a discussed public figure that her marriage made any difference. She was an item girl and still is one. But I still don't think people will be enthusiastic to see a Kajol in an item song. Imagine if Kajra Re is remade with Ash now... will there be the same craze? Of course not because the audience with conservative mindset will never think of a mother in a sexy way. Ye to bada paap hai! 😆

Madhuri and Sridevi were never 'iconic actrors' per se, but they ruled Bollywood during their reign... just like Ash did. They could act and dance and were super beautiful. In other words they were complete packages and had long careers and remained the most popular and highest paid actresses of their time. In that way they ruled Bollywood.

Coming to the comebacks... we will see. Everyone thought she'd fade away after marriage, but that didn't happen. Her position became even more solid in the industry. I strongly believe Aishwarya will continue to get great roles until 45 at least

LOL its not like Juhi has been offered some huge mainstream projects by big banners😛..I m sure she has switched to parallel cinema due to lack of offers..Granted it gets her creative satisfaction but its also cuz she didnt have much of a choice..Kajol was offered movies like Chalte chalte,3 idiots also so its not like only Kjo is keen on casting her..She may be simply lucky for getting a foothold in industry without much efforts..But if i m not wrong she isnt the only one right?..Not everyone in the industry is SRK/AB or Nasarudeen Shah/Irfan Khan..If the likes of Shahid,Hrithik cuz of their BBs and fan following can be called superstars why not Kajol?..Its not like Karisma or Juhi were doing pathbreaking movies from the start..None of them dared to do a Gupt at the peak of her career..Karisma stuck to her Sallu-Govinda comedies(which by the way are considered epics in this forum) and Juhi to aziz mishra-SRK comic crapers..Kajol is not the only one who stuck to her comfort zone..Only after their movies started flopping left, right lolo attempted a Zubeida and Juhi started doing BEP,My brother et..Now that WAF,UMAH has done poor business its a wakeup call for Kajol..She may start experimenting now but i doubt that..WAF is pretty much her last movie as she said on WAF talk show of KJO

Edit:Has any actress given an ATBB solely based on her own star power? 😕..Average hits like NOKJ are possible else i doubt it very much..Golmaal and Rajneeti had a hugee popular star cast..3Idiots-aamir+bebo,Dabaang-salman,HAHK-Salman+Mads..In near future Kat may create history though

Well .. you don't expect people to have their opinions ..do you?

There isn't much of a difference between Malaika's munni and Ash's Kajra Re. Munni was very well accepted even though she is married and has a son. Nobody called it a PAAP. And as for Kajol, I don't think she did those kind of songs even before she was married or had a baby.

Madhuri and Juhi were the queens of their times .. Ash never enjoyed that iconic status. And this is the truth. Infact you will find a lot of people who will question Ash's acting capabilities (not her beauty) but have never really seen anybody who questions Madhuri or Juhi's acting talent (even the non-fans)

Well people thought that Ash will choose not to work after marriage like a lot of other actresses. Nobody said her audience will not accept her if she does good movies. And as for her position, all her movies failed last year except Endhiran which was a hit more because of Rajnikanth. I don't have any issues with Ash if she acts well and continues to be a hit after marriage. The only thing that I have been saying since the beginning is that if her movies fail after her comeback then she may not get many offers. This is valid for all the actors (married or not). This is all I have been saying that the marital status of an actress doesn't usually defines their acceptability. Those times are really gone.

PS : I don't question your opinions. Better don't question mine. Everybody has the complete stage to perform here, why would you want to dance on somebody else's platform only. Please create a new one for yourself.

Kajol is an exceptional actress.her comeback fanaa which was after motherhood and marriage became a huge blockbuster.replicated by no other heroine from the 90's.not even the so called gorgeous madhuri.karisma/juhi less saod the better.and she attempted so many different roles in the 90's.i doubt if anyone on this forum so a film called udhar ki zindgi which was her 3rd film.she also did a film called dushman and gupt/dil kya kare.all different roles.you guys choose to ignore those roles.its not her problem.after marriage she did a very different film/role called u me aur hum.a very different role tot he usual.u guys choose to ignore that by labellin it a flop.she's a huge sucess story and an inspiration to all the married actresses.madhuri cited her as an inspiration when aaja nachle was releasing.so haters gonna hate. 👍🏼

Of course you're free to have your opinions, I'm just telling mine. If I disagree with you, it doesn't mean I'm attacking your opinion. 😊

No, I wasn't telling the difference between Munni and Kajra Re. I was just saying Malaika had always been just an item girl so they have little significance. Nobody cares about the history of an item girl. But people think it is a PAAP to see a popular actress who is now a mother in a hot way. 99% of the people who see Yana Gupta's hot item numbers are not aware of the fact that she was married.

After Sridevi, it was only Madhuri and then it was Aishwarya who ruled the roost. Juhi was far from the queen of her times. In fact, I love her and she was always underrated. Aishwarya is an icon whether you agree with it or not. Ash is a superlative actress + the only contemporary actress who won three Filmfare Best actress awards (other than Kajol). She gave many memorable performances in roles like Paro, Jodhaa, Nandini etc which are etched in people's minds. Of course people are free to have diverse opinions and it is not really hard to make out that Ash has the most no. of haters so those opinions make sense!

Last year, both Raavanan and Endhiran were successful. Of course, a Rajinikanth film is a Rajinikanth film just like an Aamir Khan film is his. But she was appreciated and got a blockbuster which is enough. At least she has had a better run at BO and awards than most in the last year.

Regarding your opinion that actresses don't get good offers if their comeback film fails, I disagree. Only time will tell who's right. 😊
