I think Lagaan was in way astory of the triumph of Human Spirit; a theme Oscar loves. The jury seems to love movies on how humans overcome all the difficulties and succeed.

nah pragya, was not hoping for MNIK to go through, i dont care abt oscars too much & dont keep much hope

for india the Filmfare awards is their version of oscars, its just as prestigious as oscars

so funny how india is desperate for an oscars & how they keep choosing amir's films only, even if a moron can see its not worthy

too bad for u

Filmfare awards being as prestigious as the Oscars is BS. Filmfare is one of the most biased awards I've seen/ known. Maybe it was a BIG thing in its yesteryear but it doesn't have the same credibility now.

And not only india, other countries hope for the oscars as well. It MEANS something to be OSCAR nominated.

As for Aamir's movie only, arguably, I dont see any other mainstream actor's movie even close to being considered for a nomination.

There are some capable directors like....Vishal bhardwaj is there, dibakar banerjee.. there is Anurag kashyap and many many more.. Hindi cinema doesn't start and end with Aamir khan.. forget bollywood.. there is such great stuff in regional cinema.. the way we consider diff movies for national awards.. why is regional cinema snubbed so badly.. to be considered for Oscars..i think its about time people look beyond bollywood for any miracles.. its time to stop sending bolly movies.. and consider regional cinema instead.

No surprise there. Peepli was a decent effort, I enjoyed it...but not Oscar nomination material.

LOL why dont these guys look beyond hindi cinema for one??

After they sent Paheli, I just laugh at the choices they make.

There are better movies out there but the team selecting the movie is biased towards hindi movies

Oh and comparing Filmfare and Oscar is BS indeed! One is baed on votes and and the other is based on notes

I agree with you but I was just giving example of actors as Megha focused only on Aamir coz I thought she was hinting at SRK only. (but that's just my assumption)

i focus on amir only becos amir is the only one bothered with oscars

sheesh

& i said ff is an important award for indian cinema just as oscars if for hollywood! i didnt compare them. i didnt say that ff & oscars are similar did i? they arent

most actors/actresses as far as i know care more about getting a filmfare than getting an apsara or star screen or zee award

an ff award is what they try to achieve

READ stuff properly. 🤪

indian cinema should be more concerned with making themselves more bigger & better not getting a seal of approval from hollywood!
