Well if she did become an alcoholic and had to be treated then okay. i dont think it really makes much of a difference to be honest, she was a great actress and as of now she seems to be doing fine.

Sorry, I did not mean to quote you. It was supposed to be a single post. Editing it right away. 😆

i loved her too back in 90's...but always liked madhuri just little more. But Manisha has great body of work..just the other Bombay was on tv, excellent movie. Then Criminal, Agnishakshi were great too. I don't think i have watched Dil se yet.
regardless, like someone said..i also heard she was alcoholic. She let her self go and was doing some B grade movies last few years. She def didn't get her dues for one reason or the other but i am glad she got married now and wont end up like Parveen babi (dead in apartment or something)

I'm not too sure how much Manisha's personal life affected her work because I didn't really know about her tryst with alcohol! But I do think that Manisha made a lot of wrong choices when it came to projects and her roles in general. She did give a number of wonderful performances such as Bombay, Khamoshi and Dil Se. However somewhere along the line it seeed as if Manisha was beginning to lose an interest in acting and her selection in films was awful. She did act in a number of films that did not do justice to her talent.
I really liked her as an actress and I still think she's a beautiful lady. Maybe her personal life had an impact on her career, I dunno. But as a member of the audience, I felt that she began to choose roles that did nothing to show her acting abilities and she sure did have plenty of it.

Manisha was an actress who could've easily been declared a legend. I'd say her films were ahead of her time. While many actresses were doing the routine dancing around trees in sarees, Manisha was like a breath of fresh air and did roles of substance. There was a period in which her script sense was impeccable, much superior to "actresses" of today. Whether it be 1942 - A Love Story, Bombay, Agnisakshi, Khamoshi, Dil Se, Lajja or Company, she gave us powerful performances one after the other and emoted like a dream. But with the share of ups, she also had a fair share of downs. She embraced an unabashed provocative lifestyle, became a wild alcoholic, gained massive weight and lost appeal in the eyes of public unfortunately. Her love life was a mess as well. Some where down the line she started languishing in B and C grade films like Jaani Dushman, Paisa Vasool, Ek Choti Si Love Story and a lot of other garbage. A classic example of failure due to utter neglect of career and professionalism. Saddening to say the least because she did in fact have infinite potential.

here we r discussing abt manisha not madhuri .........BTW no one is responsible for manisha's flop career.........agar madhuri film industry main nahi bhi hoti tab bhi manisha ka career aisa hi hota........so dont drag madhuri unnecessarily in this conversation if u dont like her...........

I agree with some that all the actors are overhyped. Take the instance of Kajol, her only shot to fame was kuch kuch hota hai, before that she had done some crap movies. Infact no one would even remeber the movies she did before kuch kuch hota hai. The only 2-3 movies that come to mind is baazigar, ddlj and karan arjun and thats bcoz of her famous pairing with SRK who was then riding high. No offense to anyone I like her but she is not that great as an actress, she is great offscreen but onscreen she is ok and overhyped. watching ddlj now just makes me mad, kajol and srk were way over the top, sorry

same goes for Madhuri and manisha and the rest. They all have just a couple of blockbusters and thats all it takes to get hyped. Madhuri will always be remembered coz of her dancing and smile. Manisha ruined her career by going haywire off-screen.
at the same time, everyone had their peak and are now waning out and thats the cycle in bollywood.

celebs who had more hits in their career are remembered forever by public no matter what ........they r no 1......(acting, dancing, beauty doesnt count only hit matters)..... film hit hai to actor bhi hit hai........ajay is better actor than srk, but srk has more fans (coz of more hits).....same goes to raj k, dilip k, amitabh, rajesh k, dharmendra, anil, amir, sallu, madhubala, nargis, rekha, hema, Sri, madhuri, kajol, rani, katrina etc ......all r loved n remembered by maximum people.....

sanjeev k, sunil dutt, sunny, ajay, rakhee, manisha , kareena, urmila, tabu , etc.....people will forget them as soon as their careers end........

Maybe she did not suck up to the Khans/KJO/Chopra like her other contemporaries. 😊
