Not trying to make comparisons here, but even Raajneeti looked very dry and boring when the Promo's came out! In the sense, it was never targetted towards the young, urban, multiplex visiting population! And it had no huge stars to speak of, minus Ranbir (who is still coming up) and Katrina (who is popular but not enough to carry a film on her own shoulders) The music of the film was also not popular and Prakash Jha hasn't given a single big hit till date before this film.
Despite all the above factors, Raajneeti was not only appreciated by the critics but also by the masses.
A good film will always find its audience, however it is made or promoted.
Abhi is a bit unlucky that way. He is a good actor, but has never found a niche for himself in the last ten years spent in Bollywood! All his hits have been multi-starrer, proving that he still cannot carry a film on his own!

Bingo, completely agreed with u, but i thought he did really good job in guru, but once again it has many big names attached to it

It flopped? Oh good. I want all the big budget flicks to flop so the small budget ones lacking star cast get noticed. Yea.... I'm a sadist. 😳

reviews are really bad and so are the collections. As for the MNIK and BC, it told the facts. when the collections fell, they were mentioned at Box office india.com and Bollywoodhungama. So many people supported MNIK due to the controversy and BC well movie did well, it never said movie is making huge money. It did average business. And MNIK is only a hit. But Mani should learn his lesson. I didn't liked the promos and i thought abhishek would be wasted and it is true according to the reviews. i am so SICK of his pairing with Ash. He needs to go back and do movies with Rani, Priyanka and Kareena(NOW I WILL BE RECEIVING ABUSIVE PM😆) . When will he learn? It's his loss, not Ash as she is already doing movies with different actors. no wonder srk said it's a nice movie and not excellent in his tweetss.

I think Abhishek is kinda trapped between his glam wife and super successfull dad , he needs to take a break from both professionally and try and work with others and make an identity for himself ....he has the potential but somewhere he hasnt really gone and shown what abhishek bacchan on his own is .......i think the world see's him either as Amitabh's son or Ash's husband .....its time the world started knowing the two as abhishek's dad and Abhi's wife respectively .....

Sometimes to be professionally successful u need take some hard personal decisions .....its time Abhishek did that cause he has already started to lag in the race ....people like shahid and ranbir have moved ahead in terms of quality and quantity ....

the thing is he enjoys known as ash husband or big b's dad. He is much more than that, ONLY if he wants but he doesn't want that. His loss.

^^^ exactly, he seems to love this carefree life. He doesn't seem as intense as Hrithink or ranbir for the success and identity. i think marrying Aish was a wrong decision for him career wise, as if his overly talented and popular parents were not enough, he has to now fight against his wife's popularity too...one more hurdle !
Anyways, his screaming and over the top expressions seem to be the reason for audience to not connect with Raavan, i don't think it has anything to do with promotions and controversies..caz those can only get initial opening but after that content matters. we saw perfect example with Kites, how dropped after the huge weekend.
