The debut of Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
So lets all share an opinion and carry on a discussion
Did you watch Saawariya?
After watching it what did you think about it?
If you did not like it, choose one good aspect of the movie
If you liked it, choose one bad aspect of the movie
What did you think about the songs?
Do you have a favorite song?
As it was a debut movie, how did you find the newcomers (acting, persona etc)?
How did the characters stand out?
Other than the two newcomers, who else caught your attention (if at all)?
Anything I've missed?
Take care ji,

Worst bollywood film I have ever seen! What was SLB thinking. why did Sonam and Ranbir do this film? For the their first film, I thought Sonam and Ranbir were very good. Sonam looked gorgeous. Favorites song is the title song!

It was a time when SLB went a bit insane...I have watched him with the music team he behaved like a tyrant.
I have seen him behave like a control freak ,during behind the scenes ,when the first time the cast was introduced to the media(Mandira was the MOC).
The film was a reflection of his megalomania and pompousness...
All that BLUE😲

i actually really liked it, ranbir kapoor was awsum in it!!! the promotions drove me crazy and i think ranbir-sonam make the most awsum pair, and sum sequences in this movie were very touching and beautiful, the acting was also good, salman portions were really bad, and the movie was dull at places, it was a sad story about unrequitted love, but i actually liked this movie much better then om shant om, and how can i forget to mention such beatiful and soulful songs!! amazing!! and the theatric trailer drove me crazy, was soo exciting for me as i have always loved rishi-neetu and now his son who looked very handsome was debuting wid anil kapoor's daughter in a movie which seemed like a very intense love story!!

I admire SLB for the amount of thought and effort he puts into his movies. Very few directors have his eye for technical finesse and his wonderful music sense.

However, i do feel saawariya was a bit self-indulgent since it tried to hard to be in the league of old raj kapoor and guru dutt classics. Its a textbook example of how technical brillance can overshadow/overwhelm the entire film.

The huge sets, superb cinematography and song picturisations were beautiful, but seemed unnecessary in the entire scheme of things. It was an intimate story between 3-4 characters but by blowing the canvas out of proportion, SLB lost the essence of the central plot and got carried away.

And when making a film with such few characters, one needs terrific screenplay and pacing (ala A wednesday)....but saawariya being a slow placed account on lost love became more of a stage play than a muvie.

As far as performances are concerned, Ranbir was endearing, so was rani. I found sonam a bit amateurish in terms of acting, but she luked gorgeous. Salman brooded a lot and had one expression throughout, so i would say i didn't like him.

The music is lovely though...and every song is brilliantly picturised except for Jab se tere naina. The song was the best in the album but ranbir doing pelvic thrusts in a skimpy towel wasn't something tht appealed to me..lol. But MasahAllah, Yoon Shabnami were out of this world. Chabeela was cute too. The entire look of the film is arguably the best ive seen in the past few decades. All the technicians in the film did a superb job, how one wishes SLB did the same.

Its like reading a book which has a great cover and looks brilliant and flashy and only to realise that there is no story to be told.
Its a movie without a soul although SLB claims that its a movie with one.
I felt that SLB got carried away by his self-indulgent self and believed that his vision was bigger than anything else.
Ranbir was decent, but Sonam, Rani & Salman were pretty bad. However the complete blame goes to the lack of a cohesive screenplay.
