~What did you think about the movie?
I didn't like the movie. I don't like Vishal's films.

Your thoughts on the cast? Anyone who stuck out in particular?
Saif def is the one who stuck out to me. He was really good. His best best performance if not the best. I also liked Kareena's performance especially at the end when Ajay was asking her if she has an affair with Vivek.

~Your thoughts on the music?
Music was okay. The only song I recall and is my favorite in the film is beedi.

Omkara won quite a few awards - did you think the winners were deserving? Anyone who didn't get an award who should've?
I think everyone deserved their award. Saif should've got it for best actor too.

~What did you think about the movie?
Absolutely mindblowing! One of my all-time favorite films and definitely VB's best work till date.
~Your thoughts on the cast? Anyone who stuck out in particular?
Saif Ali Khan as Langda Tyagi! I have seen a lot of adaptations of Othello on which Omkara was based, and I think that Saif's enactment of the principal antagonist, Ishwar Tyagi (Iago from the original) is the best I have seen! And the guy who played Raajo...Saif's best friend in the film, who unwittingly becomes the reason for everyone's death, after being manipulated by Saif! I thought the chemistry between Saif and that guy was far better than the one between Ajay and Kareena!
~Your thoughts on the music?
I still have Beedi Jalailye on my Ipod! 😆 Lovely songs...deep with meaning...Beedi is actually a take on the Zamindari system in Eastern Uttar Pradesh...Namak Ishq ka is a very bold song, which actually talks about love-making! Only Gulzar can writes lyrics like these and get away so beautifully!
~Omkara won quite a few awards - did you think the winners were deserving? Anyone who didn't get an award who should've?
Ajay should have got an award...he was so good as Omkara, even if a bit overshadowed by Saif! Even Kareena was very good...brought out Desdemona's innocence and beauty very natrually!
Omkara is a landmark film in Bollywood...not only for being a near perfect interpretation of Shakespear's original, but actually transporting a Victorian Era story into current Uttar Pradesh milieu! It takes genius to do something like this successfully and VB did that! Plus, everyone in the film performed so wonderfully...even the background characters were perfect! The dialouges though a bit vulgar and embarassng at times, depicted the background of the story very well! I think Omkara is one of the few films I have seen, which is almost flawless! Atleast, I could not find any faults in it!

Omkara remains to this day, my FAVORITE bollywood film, because its a movie that I can show to any skeptical non desi who thinks bollywood is all song and dance without any substantial depth.

~Your thoughts on the cast? Anyone who stuck out in particular?
THe cast was phenomenal. Every person was perfect for their roles. Obivously, SAIF PATAUDI, or shall I say, LANGDA TYAGI, stuck out the most. The sinister smile, the flitty gaze, the cold demeanor, the mercurial persona, it all chilled me to the bone. Undoubtedly saif's finest perfomrance and one of india cinema's best. Ajay was intense and gave a controlled level perfomrance. Kareena was amazing, and emoted very well even without the need of dialogues sometimes. She really brought out the innocence and vulerability in Dolly. Vivek was fantastic in his part as well as Kesu. The youthful, spirited young leader who looked up to Omkara. And ofcourse, KONKONA! FLAWLESS!
~Your thoughts on the music?
Beedi was a charbuster and oh saathi re such a beautiufl romantic tune. Apart from that jag ja is so haunting, especially coz you know when he sings that to her at the end!
~Omkara won quite a few awards - did you think the winners were deserving? Anyone who didn't get an award who should've?
My main complaint here is that shoving saif into the negative category deprived him of what he truly deserved. Basically he should have SWEPT the best actor awards that year. I hope Konkona won something coz she certainly deserved it. I know kareena won best actress for screen awards and best actress critics in filmfare, so it works out.

The men were good but they also had very meaty roles so it was essentially their film. But I really liked the women - Kareena and Konkana. Kareena was perfectly cast. She bought out the fragility of her character - the last few scenes when Ajay asks her about the chastisity belt were classic. Konkana deserved her award and IMO Kareena deserved some awards as well. unfortunate that she was forgotten amongst other brilliant performances. IMO this perfprmance of Kareena's was better than even Chameli.

^^ Yes, IMO, this was Kareena's best performance. Better than what she did in Chameli, JWM, even Dev.

But as people said, the movie belonged to Saif.
