Silence should be golden
Deepika Padukone will star in Silence only if she is paid on par with Priyanka Chopra who also stars in the film

| Deepika Padukone is slowly but surely learning how to demand and get the best deal in Bollywood. And if the monetary aspect is not good, even her former love-turned-current friend Ranbir Kapoor's presence in a film is not a good enough reason for her to star in a film. Take the case of Anurag Basu's film Silence starring Ranbir and Priyanka Chopra. After Katrina Kaif opted out of it, getting an actress to replace her in the film has become a major problem for the director. All efforts to bring in Asin failed and Deepika was approached for the role. But, she refuses to commit herself until certain changes are made to strengthen the dramatic content of her role. There's also the unresolved issue of the money. According to sources, Deepika will agree to step in only when her pay is on par with Priyanka who plays a mentally challenged girl in Silence. When asked about the film, Deepika says, "I can't talk about this until certain issues are resolved." Director Basu is now focusing completely on getting the casting of Silence in place since shooting starts in July. He says, "I've no choice. Ranbir and Priyanka are confirmed. Dates are a big issue. Matching the dates of three big stars is a posing to be a major problem." Basu says he is really disappointed that Katrina couldn't be part of Silence. "I think she's wonderful. She knows how disappointed I am. But whoever comes in her place will do full justice to the role," he adds.
