MNIK couldn't have been the top opener in India because it only released in select theaters. And only in 13 theaters in Mumbai. But those were 100% collections. And it didnt release in Pune at all.

Internationally, however, it's beat 3 Idiots, and now is the highest opener.

I'm not surprised about that. Here in T.O for last nights show it was all sold out hours before and even todays shows were all sold out. Some people were sitting on the stairs and watching , i felt sorry for them cuz its a lonnnnggg movie. It was a proud moment at the end when everyone gave a round of applause which is very rare here.

well aalif surti who works for dharma tweeted about shows being houseful in chennai, kolkotta, hyderbad, delhi(NCR) and other towns whereas overseas it beat 3 idiots collections by like 100-300%; there were long lines at the cinema here and my cousin said it was the same in London.. for more info: http://twitter.com/AalifSurti

This article says the movie lost 2.25 crore from Maharashtra because of limited release and no Pune. If all theaters had opened....MNIK would've beat Ghajini and be at #2 for opening day record. Oh well.

i must the only person that never cares about the opening day for a movie, remember THE RISING..it may not have beaten 3 idiots opening collection but surely it will make its mark😛

My Name Is Khan has opened to a bumper response in India. Multiplexes across the country are recording phenomenal collections with major multiplexes being 100% for the first two shows. Wave Ludhiana, Fun Chandigarh, Wave Noida, Inox Kolkata, PVR Bangalore and Fun Bangalore amongst others have seen full houses in the morning for the first two shows.

Mumbai which is having a limited release is also extraordinary. Fun had their first show in the city at 12.00 and recorded 100% collections. The business at single screens is lower than multiplexes but still very good. Delhi and Kolkata single screens are super strong. Despite the problems in Mumbai the film will record very high collections on day one.

I thought that it is the biggest opener. Well maybe becasue of the controversy with it. People were coming out and saying that Sena is defeated as all teh theatres are housefull. But when I saw this I was like if MNIK is full tehn for Gajini and 3 idiots people must be sitting on the roofs....😉

But seriously I think we will know in few days..Right now the emotions are running higher than the reasoning. So later part of the week we will see people actually coming out and revieing the movie wiht unbiased way...

When it said SS is defeated, it did not mentioned anywhere movie is releasing in Maharashtra and Pune. SS is defeated because 13 cinema theatres in mumbai were forced to open due to JANTA Demand. Which We haven't seen in the past. Movie still isn't releasing in Maharashtra. Not sure when it be releasing in pune. But right now it mostly doing 100%

I am really looking forward to watch this movie....

I want otwacth it not becasue it is a very heart touching movie about/on terrorism....BUT I want to watch it for Kajol-SRK jodi and the neurological disorder kids...

Even in American Idol I soooo wanted the boy with the Neuro disorder to go ahead but he was eliminated in the Hollywood round...
