NEW DELHI: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he has chosen to remain tight-lipped over Indian Premier League (IPL) issue because he fears his statement could be misinterpreted.

"They (the media) ask all the same questions on the film ('Rann') and the media and the angst among them. And then the real reason they are their - 'What sir are your takes on this IPL and Pakistan and Balasaheb and Shah Rukh events?'," Amitabh posted on his blog on Sunday from his Pratkeesha residence in Mumbai.

Shiv Sena activists demonstrated in front of superstar Shah Rukh's house in Bandra here Sunday to protest his comments favouring inclusion of Pakistani players in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They dubbed him a traitor and have demanded that he apologise.

"These are sensitive issues and I must remain out of it. Who and which channel shall distort, amend, cut paste, slow motion, back ground music my comment, one does not know. And also one does not know what stance the channel shall take on it. So, it is best to not comment at all," he added.

Shah Rukh is the co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team.

Not sure if I should say this, but I just spoke to my Mom, who's in Pune (on holiday), and she said things are quite bad, Shiv Sainiks have indeed smashed MNIk posters in theatres and have threatened that they will not allow to them to screen MNIK- and they are very serious about it. And there is stuff all over news and newspapers- she said some very influential people against SRK (I can't remember the exact names she mentioned). This has definitely become very big.

She wasn't even sure if she would be able to buy a MNIK CD for me because of this- she said they may have even stopped selling those.
And same with magazines with SRk on front page.

And this means it's not just Mumbai that's affected.
I really hope the government can do something and get this sorted by 12th Feb, she said government is trying, but don't know how much they can do- they would have to provide security at every theatre/ multiplex.

I was hoping things weren't so bad, and that media had just over exaggerated a little, but Mom said it's all true.
