Whose year was 2009?

Katrina Kaif.

From super hits that Bollywood needs to survive, endorsements and magazine covers. She deserves credit for all. Many gets a first push still to survive in this rat race one needs some ability and I believe she has that.

It could have been kareena's year had kurbaan worked box office wise.
She lost it out on the BO coz of that (especially coz of MAMK as well). BO wise, KI was a success and 3 Idiots has been historic, but Kurbaan would have done her wonders.
Still, acting wise she has grown. I felt her performance in kurbaan was one of the msot mature and restrained performnaces she's given. I'd take a flop like kurbaan and omkara over supposed "successes" like KI and Golmaal Returns anyday.

As far as the discussion around Pri and Karu goes.. they almost had similar kind of year in terms of their movies.. with Kareena having a upper hand. Both Pri and Karu's movies where they were supposed to perform well.. and had lengthy and meaty roles.. aka "Whats your raashi" and "Kurbaan" tanked at the box office.. I didn't like Pri at all in Whats your Raashi.. she was too over the top! Karu was still better in Kurbaan.. her performce was one of the highlights of Kurbaan. The movies where both Karu and Pri found success were male dominated movies.. ala.. "3 Idiots" and "Kaminey".. In these movies both of them had smaller roles but they were very effective in them and they were highly praised in them.. Karu has upper hand in this situation also cauz.. "3 Idiots" is the biggest hit in history of bollywood.. but "Kaminey" was just a semi-hit/at max hit! Kat found great success in all her movies.. as they were run away hits.. and she improved a lot in terms of acting in New york and Ajab! If you talk about the roles in which Kat found success.. then you would see that in her movies.. Kat had way more screen time compared to Kareena and Pri.. and Honestly.. I think Kat's acting was pretty good in them.. I hated Luck by chance.. and havent watched WUS.. so can't comment on Koko! I think Vidya was tremendous in Paa.. honestly speaking from what I have seen.. she totally rocked it in. Vidya really tries to bring the old charm of actresses in her movies.. her expressions are very subtle.. and she is very confident as an actor! She really is a breath of fresh air in our cliched version of wannabe western chicks kinda actresses.. who have fake accents... and just try to be something which they are not..
