Guddu Dhanoa has approached the actor for 'Gulabi', which also stars Nana Patekar as a cop
Lately, Aishwarya Rai has involved herself in a string of reality-based films. The list is long enough - Jagmohan Mudhra's 'Provoked', Ketan Mehta's 'Jhansi Ki Rani' and Zachary Coffin's 'Windfall'. And now, she might just act in a Guddu Dhanoa film called 'Gulabi', a story set in Mumbai, silhouetting an intense romance between a bar dancer and a cop. While Nana Patekar has already been zeroed down for the role of the police inspector, Rai has been approached for the bar dancer part.
"We are looking at Ash because she is a brilliant actor. We have conveyed our willingness to cast her through her secretary. Once she is back in November end, we will have a script narration," says Dhanoa, who had previously roped in Rai for a guest appearance on his film, '23rd March 1931: Shaheed'. Rai's secretary Hari Singh says that though Rai has been approached, there are no immediate dates to spare. "She has over 20 offers but it is not humanly possible for her to do all the films. But Guddu is my friend too. I will try to work it out. But only Ash will take a decision once she comes back," says Singh.
Meanwhile, Dhanoa is also briskly producing one movie after another. He has signed up Rituparno Ghosh for a Bengali movie starring Vidya Balan and Prosenjit. Besides, he is also funding a comedy, probably starring Govinda, titled 'Raja Maharaja.' But what happened to 'Deodhar Gandhi' with Sunny Deol? "It has been slightly delayed. Only 20 days' shooting is left. Sunny is out on stage shows. Let him come back and the film will be shot with effectual immediacy," informs Dhanoa.
