Hottest item numbers of 2009 |
Gone are the days when Bollywood films were considered incomplete without the ghisa pita dialogue - 'Bhagwan ne aapko sab kuch diya papa, sab kuch, kaash ek dil bhi de diya hota.' But not anymore! Thank God! Today, Hindi films are incomplete only without item numbers. Main Ayi Hoon UP Bihar Lootne, Come To me, etc are some popular item numbers, no doubt! But what about this year's item songs? Can you think of any? If not, here's a flashback at some of the hottest item numbers of 2009. |
Dil Bole Hadippa!
Starring: Rani Mukherji and Shahid Kapoor
Bhangra Bistar was quite a cool number, where girl power seemed to be in full force. Rani and Rakhi Sawant no doubt gave a brilliant performance together in this number, but talking about the singing bit, we must say it was an all women show with Alisha Chinoy and Sunidhi Chauhan coming together with rap by Hard Kaur. Not to forget, Pritam's brilliant music that did absolute justice to this item number.
Main aurr Mrs Khanna
Starring: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sohail Khan and Preity Zinta
Happening was the item song picturised on Preity Zinta. But it's sad that the song was not at all happening. The only happening thing about the song was Sunidhi's voice accompanied by Wajid, Uvie, Farhaad and Raja Mushtaq and also Preity Zinta's sexy moves that the audience got to watch for the very first time. In short, this item number was nothing great or different.
Billu Barber
Starring: Shah Rukh Khan, Lara Dutta, Irrfan Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone
We're not too sure whether the audience liked the film or no, but SRK definitely did! After all, he shot 3 item numbers with B-town's 3 hottest chics! Let's start with the no.1 song Marjaani. Without a doubt, it is SRK-Kareena and their chemistry in this number that made this number such a big hit. In fact, this soundtrack by Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan was so cool that once the number would start playing, your feet would just begin tapping. Also the lyrics penned by the legendary lyricist Gulzar was treat to go with. We must say it was quite a well choreographed item number.
Love Mera Hit Hit: This was another hit number sung by Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar that had SRK and Deepika shaking the legs. It wasn't just superbly choreographed but also well composed. When this number was out initially, it actually made people press the repeat button time and again.Blue
Starring: Akshay Kumar, Kylie Minogue, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Katrina Kaif
Chiggy Wiggy was truly the most awaited song of the year. What makes this number hot is the 'phoren babe' Kylie Minogue's singing style and dance appearance with Akki. We must say, this song written by Abbas Tyrewala and sung by Kylie, Sonu Nigam and A. R. Rahman was simply outstanding!
Jail
Starring: Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mughda Godse and Sayali Bhagat
Needless to say, the item number Bareily Ke Bazaar Mein would have been removed from the film had it not been a part of Bhandarkar's movie. The film was quite decent, but surprisingly this number had nothing different to offer. As far as the music goes, the musical team including composer Shamir Tandon, lyricist Sandeep Nath and singer Sonu Kakkar didn't really manage to impress the audience. Better luck next time!
Wanted
Starring: Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia
Tera Yeh Jalwa quite managed to create jalwa on screen. Especially, the orchestra bit of it at the beginning of the song was just mind blowing. Govinda, Salman and Prabhu Deva's outstanding performance in this track completely entertained the audience. Right from the beats to the choreography, everything was a hit about this track
Le Le Mazza Le: This track no doubt, had something unique to offer. The track with a Spanish base with Carlyta Mouhini and Suzanne coming together for writing and singing the Spanish portions made the track special. Also, the picturisation was pretty cool with some sexy firang babes dancing around Sallu miya. Overall, it turned out to be an average song sung by Saumaya Rao, Hrishikesh Kamerkar and Nikita Nigam with lyrics by Wajid and Shaabir Ahmed. |
Luck Aazma Luck Aazma was brilliantly sung by South superstar Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Hassan. And it was Clinton Cerejo, who accompanied her behind the mike. This soundtrack was quite hot with a lot of punch to it. Laslty, music directors Salim Merchant - Sulaiman Merchant and lyricists Shabbir Ahmed and Anvita Dutt Guptan truly deserve to be appreciated for this brilliant number. |
