Actually I dunno if this is related to the topic or not. But I think the reason that there are so many crazy zealous fangirls around is has something to do with the association principle in psychology. I think the problem is that these fangirls tend to associate far too personally with their favorite stars/sports-team, so that whenever their favorites succeeds, they feel that they've done well and succeeded. That is precisely why, whenever somebody attacks their favorite star, or is against the pair of their favorite-star with another very popular star, the fangirls lash out vehemently, not because the said criticism itself, but because they perceive it as a personal attack on themselves (Due to how intimately they tend to associate themselves with their favorite actors.) This is somewhat akin to ShadowKisses's theory in that the fans try to live out vicariously through the celebrities.

I think the reason why we have so many fangirls of the younger celebrities as compared to the older ones, is I guess because most of the people on I-F are relatively young so they tend to enjoy and know more about the younger celebrities, more than the older celebrities. However I could be wrong on this.

Nah, I was talking about general shahid and saif fans, ones you find in these bollyforums or youtube, pinkvilla...But anyways, criticism and bashings are part and parcel of celeb life...

Well see thats the things, the "fans" on YT or PinkVilla hardly know anything about Shahid. They just like him for eye candy, the people who really know him are on his site, and they dont talk shit.

I remember someone posted the Khaled Mohammad article there, and EVERYONE ignored it. Even I was shocked, they could have bashed her so badly with that article, but they were just busy with Charlie or whatever, that article was completely ignored.
