Tushar Kapoor should have gone the route that the two people from Aashiqui did (can't even remember their names - Anu and Rahul Roy perhaps). Why is he still getting films, albeit bad comedies?

Hiru, you are right that after they get their first chance they have to prove themselves without their family backing. But the fact is that they will get more second chances than outsiders as well. Uday Chopra can write a script and get Daddy to produce it after so many failures. Would someone from outside the industry get that kind of opportunity?

Sonam and Ranbir became stars even before their first films released. On the basis of what?

Please tell me geet..who WATCHES an uday chopra film?everyBODY in this world know how pathetic as an actor he is...

Oh really???Stars??oh yeah that is why their movie went on to be the BIGGEST flop of the year..
ppl had expectations from them thye dint became any stars!

and its not like STAR KIDS jsut play party dont work hard at all....yes it is a fact that they get some really great scripts thanks to thier connections but they hard work to...last time i read...Ranbir Kapoor dint sleep for 3 days for the promotions and shooting of Ajab..now whats that? partying?yeah sure...

every outsider cannot be SRK...and every star kid cannot be Rishi Kapoor ( in acting department)

Ofcourse they work hard. I am not denying that there are talented, hard-working star kids. My problem is simply with some of them playing the victim card - talking about how hard it is for them being compared to their parents. I just don't feel any sympathy for them on that count.

Hiru, they are bigger stars than lets say Muzammil Ibrahim whose debut film also flopped, no? That is what I mean. Its not that people want to see Uday Chopra on screen. It is just that when the audience reject a film by a Muzzamil or Urvashi Sharma they basically disappear - they don't get their 11th, 12th and 13th chances. Uday Chopra still does. My problem is with the number of opportunities they get to prove themselves. Which people outside the industry don't.

I think outsiders and star kids both have their own struggles. Outsider's have to fight hard to get a foot into the industry and once in, keep the right contacts to keep the ball rolling. On the other hand, Star kids may initially get their first films easy, but afterwards if they can't bring the crowds in they won't get work - why would a producer invest in an Esha Deol or Tushaar if they can't make money out of them? Names are not always just enough to get the crowds through the door's. They gotta have some talent to last in the industry and actually make a career of it.

as for sawariya and refugee - i'd say kareena, ranbir and sonam all showed potential in their films even though they werent big hits.

Now that i agree...if Abhi wasnt Big b's son he wouldnt have got another chance after his 1st film LOL...

but thats how life is.its not fair..........😕it depends alot on kismat yaar..star kids apni kismat lay kar aye hain aur outside apni...jiske chal pari tho chal pari..agar naheen tho.....hum kya karsakte hain!

Models seem to get it easy as well - Priyanka, Lara, John, Bipasha, Diya, Dino, Arjun etc have all given flops at the beginning of their career but are still in films

Just to clarify, its not that I think that star kids shouldn't be allowed into films, or that it is their fault that they are lucky.

I just have two grouses:

1. They shouldn't play the victim card by saying that "we will be compared to our parents". I feel no sympathy for them there.

2. They get more chances after failing than an outsider would. For example Ranbir v. Muzammil, or Tushar Kapoor v. Rahul Roy. Both of them had successful debuts and nothing after that. Former still survives, the latter disappeared from films after that. Ofcourse that is their good luck like Hiru said.

Yes but they had to be successful models first so they built some sort of following around them. They actually did that work on their own albeit in a different industry. Star kids just have to have their last names and a willing producer (uncle).
