But I still stand by my earlier statement. I still don't buy the art v. other film distinction. There is on the other hand a distinction between big budget films v. independent films which I feel is a more accurate description. Apart from that there are just good and bad films, and good and bad acting.

Evidence of a bad actor in an "art" film: Rahul Bose in most of his films.

Good actor in a "commercial" film: Aamir Khan in Lagaan.

Well I certainly do agree with your post, thats how I feel too. But how does that factor into what Deepika said? Did you make this post because you think this is how Deepika must have thought before she made that statement? Or is that your independent hought on movies in general? I'm confused. Because yes, I do know that not every big hollywood blockbuster is going to be bad and not every independent French flick is going to be good. I never refuted that. What I'm trying to understand is why do these newbie actresses (Deepika, Sonam, Sonakshi ) make these retarded statements?🤢

I also despite being her fan think that she has a long way to go and I hope she does versatile roles in the future.

@psychobalehead About the last part in your post - I don't know why they make these statements and yes it is unexpected from Deepika because she has stayed away from this sort of stuff in the past.

But how is Deepika doing the same thing in every movie? was she playing shanti priya in lak? is she playing meera in her upcoming movies? I think all her movies, she experiment with her roles and her looks. But she's getting better as an actress. All the top actresses started their career being not so perfect but they became perfect later on.

Atleast she's changing genres and not doing the same old genre. She's doing everything from comedy, to action, to romance, to thriller to drama

i am a fan of deepika and i know she isnt the best actress here..she has a long way to goo..

and from what i get from that statement ...she meant ...she doesnt need ART films to prove her acting talent ....like acting talent can be shown in comdey type of roles tooo..but not really those 80's TYPES OF moviess to prove that " haan yaar isko acting ati hain....isne itna strong role play kiya hai"

Yeah I wish they'd give more diplomatic answers 😆😆😆 but in her defense, I dont think she was being snobbish- she just said that she doesnt need an art movie to prove herself which I think is a general statement. U dont need an art movie to prove urself....dunno what's so complicated about that statement......

First, the article compares Kaminey and Rajneeti to the likes of art films which fully takes away the credibility of the author. As members mentioned in the prior posts, those films are meant for selective audiences where actresses de glam themselves from being Barbie dolls.

Secondly Deepika may very well not speak of art films, and show her full talent as an actor in commercial films, then we can even think of her being in art films. She claims Meera to be a challenging role, which hints she has no idea of art films.

Lastly, she shouldn't have made a comment of this sort because I am unable to comprehend where's she heading. She is implying that through her 3-4 commercial flicks, she is an accomplished actor? Or the likes of Nandita Das and Smita Patil are initially on the same level as her?

She has a journey to complete and I know so that she will be able to succeed, but this comment of hers was WTF indeed. It happens...

Umm I don't think she implied that at all in her article. That is a pretty big jump to make from what she has actually said.

But I do agree that she has a lot to improve as an actress.

But Deepika knows she has a long way to go. She said in a recent magazine, "I have a long way to go as far as me being an actor." She always admitted that she needs to work harder and she says she works hard on each movie and each role is challenging for her.

And I don't believe in these so called art movies. I guess konkona's earlier movies are art but it doesn't matter to me. I think she's really good in her small budget movies or commerical movies.
