Before I was a little sympathetic towards Srk as I thought he had to go through racial profiling and bad treatment. But by listening to Srk's own words I dont find any evidence that Americans disrespected him or treated him in a Shabby way... or the fact that he was detained. What I smell is traces of Srk's ego and his inclination and liking towards hierchy system. Sorry my dear Srk but the west is just not like this. Here everyone is equal.. no matter if you clean toilets or you are the president.. everyone has equal rights and equal standing in the society and everyone has the right to live life in their own way and be respected for that. I was very shocked on hearing Srk say someting like the Indian officers there were very embarrased that they were putting Srk the great Srk through all of this.. I for a second dont belive that any worker in US is any less than Srk.. and needs to be embarrased for following a procedure.. Americans live and breathe the equality rights for people...and I dont think Srk is smart enough to understand that...

That is just the way it is. At the end of the day, I realize it may not be the most fair thing in the world, but I realize the overall intent to ensure everyone's safety. Does my friend, who wears her hijab have to feel uncomfortable gaze from people when we ride the city bus? Yup, it infuriates me the stares we get when we go the amusement park or some crowded public place like that. Absolutely, it is a dicey situation and not the most fair. But at the end of the day, is what he did the most productive thing? Honestly, I felt that he felt entitled to being the VIP treatment. It is more of a class issue I think where he is feeling the pain, and he doesn't understand the security measures in the U.S. Personally, I am glad security is so tight, as it makes me feel better. And for example Senator Edward Kennedy was on the no fly list. If anyone is familiar with U.S. politics, he is probably the most illustrious senators in recent history and he was stopped at Logan Airport in Boston and questioned numerous times. But he did not indulge in such histrionics. The Kennedy family is so respected in Massachusetts and he could have gone into histrionics, but he understood what conditions are like and took care of it in a dignified manner. That is all I will say.:D

First of all, brown people!!!!!!!!!!!😆😆....haven't heard that for a while!😆😆

Ok so coming to the point, see, personally i don't have a problem with them trying to secure their county and everything but my problem is they over do it!!! Its good to have a tight security but there is a limit to it!! After coming to USA my friend should not be thinking of changing her name...you know what i mean? My friend should not be having second thoughts on should i change my name or not?..should i do this should i do that...you get my point?
That's why i am so happy that this situation is getting so much attention. its good for other people that go through this.
And about Senator Edward Kennedy yea you are right he knew what conditions are like and took care of it in a dignified manner and so did SRK....I mean its not like he didn't. Its just the media picked up this story and now its a BIG issue....which i am thankful to...

And people don't have problem answering Visa questions but there is a different between visa questions and personal questions. There is a big huge difference.
And yea agreed that its their country, their law, but that does not mean they can cross the limit, period.

I respect your point, but I guess we will have to agree to disagree. And I am certainly not the most gung ho person on this issue. But come on, the frisking comment and the whole saying my name is Khan and comparing how in UK he is escorted to the car and treated are not helpful things to say. For example, my aunt came from Saudi Arabia, and it was hard for her to get a visa. But she wanted to come here for the sake of professional advancement. It worked out so well for now, and she practices medicine in the Ozark Mountains region and loves the rural community. But I guess the thing is that there are instances where a system may be abused, but you can't just cry foul every single time because I can go on telling tales if you want for hours. One of my classmates has the unfortunate first name of Osama. Could his parents predict what could happen a couple of decades later? No, they liked the name. Sure, he is sarcastic about it, telling jokes, and blames Osama bin Laden for the uncomfortable giggles his name gets the first day of class. At the end of the day, though if your friend wants to just deal with the system, then she will and wear her name as a badge of pride no matter the problems she faces. Sure, it is easy for me to say this from my computer monitor. Honestly, I do believe in the idea of the melting pot, and I love and embrace diversity, as it makes a place richer. Will prejudice and stereotypes ever be stamped out of society? I don't know if that will ever be the case, but being open and having a dialogue is what should be the case, not just playing the blame game and being outraged. His luggage was missing, and there was a delay. And he was questioned, treated humanely, and released in 66 minutes. It wasn't the worst thing in the world.

What limit did the US cross ?
And what bizzare questions did they ask SRK ?
Can someone please enlighten me?

As far as I know he was detained in private NOT in front of the whole world - He was NOT verbally or physically abused. He was asked routine questions nothing more , nothing less. Just like every other brown skinned person with a much smaller ego has been asked.

The problem here is not only SRK, its the way VIPs are treated in India. In India film stars, politicians and cricketers are treated like they are better than everyone else. They never have to wait in queues, they never have to answer questions and whats worse is that India offers that treatment to other foreign VIPs as well. Its not the same in the west. Yes there is racial profiling and yes it is inconvinient but should the US do away with it? HELL NO!! Like several people before me have said I would rather that I be inconvinienced rather than being blown up!

A message to SRK: If you want to be treated like a VIP stay in India.

and wat i m wondering is wat actually the security ppl can do?.. leave every1 without questioning and searching? so that ppl do not complain and not play victimised cards on basis of religion? how to distinguish between a good person n a bad person? mohd atta who hijacked teh plane was very well dressed and highly qualified.. kasab never lukd like a terrorist , he ws just like any teenager .. so just to pacify certain section of ppl shud the security officers stop doing routine checks? and leave ppl just like dat..?
it is not that only that particular religion produces fanatics and terrorists.. these kind of bad elements r present in all religions.. bt the 9/11 or 26 nov , havoc were created by ppl unfortunately belonging to that particular group .. so it is quite natural for US nt to leave a stone unturned regarding it.. wat india does with security is something they shud b ashamed of , instead they r bashing US lol.. it is like ulta chor kotwal ko daante!

I understand your point but, as i mentioned in my other post, the whole frisking comment i don't think he said anything wrong. It might not have been helpful but in my opinion i don't think he said anything wrong. And yea i do agree that my friend will have to wear her name as a badge of pride even though the problems she faces...but she should not have to think about should i change my name or not, her kid who is only 7 should not think about why do we always have to go to a room after some long hours in a plane...that is not right.Things like this hurt. What is she suppose to say to her kid?....I am not saying that security is not needed or anything like that but it is totally over done. There should be a limit. My friend has come to visit me at least 6 or 7 times and every single time she is taken to a room and all that crap starts...when i go to pick her up and if her flight lands at 5:00 i have to leave the house thinking i will have to wait there till 8:00. That is not right. Whenever i take a trip with her to go somewhere i have to book a ticket thinking if we have to get there at 5:00. So, We will have to book a ticket that will take us there at 2:00 so that we won't be late. That is not right!!!!
That's all i have to say.....

^I think this argument is just going around in circles, and there is no way we will be able to change each other's mind. Going to the airport is a trial for everyone, and one group of people unfortunately have to suffer the consequences. The security people do have a thankless job though. If they miss something, they are blamed and rightly so. Though we also get irritated at all of the procedures. But at the end of the day, I think the benefits outweigh the costs. Everyone arriving safe and sound is utmost important to me. And responding with a sexist comment because he felt his ego was hurt was something I thought was absolutely undignified. Let's leave it here. Shall we?
