I wish I knew! I dont even know whats Pritish Nandy doing in Bollywood still? :s I actually dont know the whole reason for Bollywood....they hardly make good movies and if they do then its a copy. And the ones which are not a copy or okay are still a copy but good are ignored. All they want is always a commercial masala flick. I never see the good not copied/copied movies being recognised in Bollywood the way sadela copied films like KI, GR, etc. etc. are recognised.

p.s.-- I dedicated a song on Pg 14 sticky topic to uu if u didnt notice. Hope u like it!

Dang you people can write!!! 😃 n' I'm loving this thread 'coz I dont approve of any KJO or Yash Johar movies. I do watch them all with prying eyes but have hated most if not all.
KANK, K3G, Mohabatein tops my list on being the crappiest movie in the history of movie making!!!
I kinda feel like I dont really like mainstream bollywood commercial movies in general 🤓 despite countable few albeit being an ardent follower/ movie goer.

Most of the films KJo has directed or produced have been a headache for me. KANK still had an interesting story/idea but the way he handled the subject was too over the top. I actually don't have much hope from MNIK. I get the feeling that will be another New York (not necessarily in terms of the story but in superficially handling a sobering subject) with the autism angle thrown in to get more sympathy for the lead actor.

K3G, KKHH,, Mohabattein, Veer Zaara, Rab Ne Bana Di jodi were all pretty bad. DDLJ was still decent especially for its time, though I wouldn't want to watch it today. But then apparently it Aditya Chopra plagiarized the script. Which would not be hard to believe considering the quality of his follow up films.

Those movies gave me migraine Geet--- scarred for life!!! I felt like banging my head somewhere watching 'em.
No hopes for MNIK either but I kinda hope that he has learnt his lesson. I earlier said that I liked him as a person but editted. I think I like him as a host though. 😳😳

OMG then Salaam Namaste CAN be your favorite movie!

Who the heck is telling you to dislike it? And it's her opinion if she doesn't like it and felt the comedy thing wasn't needed, why are you getting so hyper?
Chilllllllllllllll.
My thing is, it's one thing to have a good message/truth about life in a movie, but that doesn't mean you automatically have an awesome movie. You need to portray it well, which is what I don't see in the majority of K-Jo's movies.
If anyone gets offended by my comment, I will laugh. Sorry, I really will.

😆 Add Salaam Namaste to the list as well...WTF was EGG XACTLY!!!! I dont have much memoirs from the movie though but I just remember how much I've hated it 😡 and Mohabatein still makes my blood boil....grrrrr....😡😡

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was a complete torture for me. I'm so glad I did not watch it in the theater, and at one point I was planning to, since a close friend wanted to watch it. She has watched it ten times so far, and I try to keep an open mind, but I can't see the reason. Thanks to the horrific experience of RNBDJ - I would much rather be bored, than watch a terrible movie.

And the interesting thing is that in all the crapfest of movies from KJO and YRF SRK is the common factor. Commercially they may have done well for SRK, but these same movies have prevented him from growing as an actor or extending his versatility, which has been virtually non-existent.
Which is quite a contrast to Aamir Khan who also may choose cringeworthy stuff like Fanna, Ghajini, Mela etc..... But immediately bounces back with a RDB, Lagaan, TZP, 1947 Earth, DCH etc...

So, I haven't got much time so I wasn't able to read all the posts so far but I had to give my input. I like Karan Johar for a few reasons:

1) he isn't scared of trying to fit his movies into a standard norm. KANK (though I disliked the movie a lot!) was still different, bold, and he tried to portray a different side to relationships and its not about whether we agree with the story or not but more about the fact that he was able to bring it out for people to discuss. I know, I hated the movie but after watching it-- I argued with people about it. I actually talked with my peers and even my parents about what that movie was trying to portray and some agreed with KJo while others didn't but we all still rationally brought these issues into the light. Same goes for Dostana... this movie I actually found hilarious! I think director's job is to portray his or her own story and just create a movie for the audience to enjoy and that is what Dostana does. Maybe it wasn't logical, or real but it was HIS story and the slapstick humor was really good at parts and really rude at others.

2) I feel that at least all of his movies so far have been on different types of stories all together. KKHH (my favorite movie of his) was a cute romantic story that was very innocent at heart almost like how JTYJN is in today's time. K3G was a family movie talking about the relationship between family. KANK was talking about relationship between husband and wife and somethings things DO go wrong and finally I think MNIK is going to be different in that it is going to portray a different side of terrorism and how it effects people.

I have to say that I don't agree with parts of his stories but I do think that he is a good filmmaker because he tries new things and because he forces people to talk about certain taboo subjects in our country. He just does it in a commercial way and this way more people watch it and he makes more money so props to him!

But homosexuality isn't a concept to be entertained about or to be used as comedy.. :/
So, I still stick by my previous comment, it's not so much about the message, but how the director shows that message throughout the film. Which, for me, K-Jo failsssssssssss.
