Interesting views by all, I must say :D
One thing that surprises me about Karan Johar is that he has lived in the UK, or has been to the UK many times since he has an apartment there. But he hasn't been able to capture London properly. For example, K3G was all wrong!! The pom-poms and cheer leaders...that's American style, that's not really part of the British culture. And "whatever" is mostly used in America. Kareena Kapoor's character was not British at all and it semed like he was showing some bimbo from Beverly Hills. The character wasn't Kareena's fault, I blame the director. It's very obvious he didn't do his homework properly. American culture and British culture are quite different and being a Londoner myself, I was shocked to see what Karan Johar was showing in K3G.

Roxy, I completely agree that if KJo really wants Indians to accept homosexuality in the society then may be he should have taken a step forward of breaking the stereotypical mould that one holds for homosexuals, rather than promoting it further and even stooping to the level of mocking them.

In regards to KANK, yes I totally agree that the presentation was flawed to the level of presenting the idea of infedility to look very casual. His execution made the protagonists of the movie look very weak in terms of what they were actually looking for in their partner or a marriage. His idea was good, trying to show both the characters stuck in a marriage of convenience due to varied reasons. But where he failed was that he lacked the ability to show the depth of inner turmoil that the two protagonists were undergoing before even thinking about an affair. But I completely concur with your points on KANK, he could not manage to portray the reasons his characters opted for an affair instead of working on their respective marraiges. I know he was trying to show a different side to why some people opt for extra-marital affairs, but he failed miserably to make the conservative society understand the reasoning, hence many outright rejected the concept as they were not able to fathom a girl leaving such a wonderful, perfect (too perfect may I add) hubby behind for someone like SRK's character.

I don't think even think he did full justice to his handling of Abhi and Preity's character. There was no depth to either of the characters, and the worst character was the sleazy father in the name of sexy Sam. Erghhh.. I absolutely hated the climax, it turned out to be an anti-climax, it had such poor and filmy cliched execution, I actually started laughing in the cinema, pretty loudly I should say. It was highly embarassing if I may add, coz people actually started staring at me. 😆 I guess the only reason I like KANK was coz of its unconventional subject, or else the movie was very badly made.

As a film maker he still has a long way to go before he could or should attempt unconventional subjects, such as terrorism, affairs and homosexuality. If he is unable to get out of the glossy, grandeur representations, then may be should refrain himself from attempting subjects that need great care and mature handling. I am not undermining his capibilities, but he seriously needs to come out the misconception that he has about NRIs (his target market) only appreciating gloss and glamour. Dude the NRIs dont go to watch your film coz of the concept or you, they go coz of SRK.😆 Jokes apart, but he needs to stop treating NRIs as some dimwits who only watch movies for Manish Malhotra garbage or singing and dancing, we appreciate good not half baked cinema. He has the best of actors to his dispense, he needs to start utilising them properly; he has SRK who is capable of delivering a power packed performance. One needs to just watch Kabhi ha kabhi na, Darr, Raju ban gaya.., and more recent Swades and Chak de..to see what a fine actor he can be if one is able to hone him in the right manner.

So KJo get out your green kuppa koffee and have a Koffee with Karan😉

this is my reply for KANK their is such thing as 'instant chemistry' which lacked in both their relationships, but when they met each other somthing clicked, the first scene explains everything rani and srk marriage for convenience, and both of them looking at each other while walking, and srk's reaction after finding rani, how they connected, found a chemistry, love within each other in their first meeting itself, somtbhing they were looking for, and their bitterness is shown very clearly, they were trying to work on their marriage, but their love for one another grew, and they were unable to love their own partners, not cause their was anyting wrong wid them, but cause rani's character wanted true love or wanted babies and got none, and srk's character again wanted to play international football but got injured, and did not found love or comfort in form of his wife, cause he did not love her.

Kjo seems like a nice person. He's capable of more and he has enough money to be able to show us something with more substance than just flamboyance, KANK was a good attempt but *Sexy Sam ruined it.

But seriously when I saw Poo in K3G I was embarrased lol. I mean is that how nri's are to be portrayed? Honestly I thought Swades had captured our sentiments more accurately. Ok you have to entertain the audiences but superficiality, stupidity, pompousness is not how to represent an entire community and being an nri myself, I thought I should bring that up. The good thing about K3G was how the relationship between the old and young generations was showcased but yeah Poo and Hrithik ruined it.

Dostana was cheap humor, only the mother's character was funny. The rest was too fake for me and once again a poor representation of another community. The protagonists expressions made me shudder and poor priyanka what was she there?

Terrorism and autism are serious subjects not to be dramatized and taken lightly. These subjects don't seem to be Kjo's cup of tea or coffee for that matter. He should just stick to love stories.

I am not from london but pretty close and know people their and that i agree with but i guess that was just more for the films sake to add humour than anything...but i think in other ways hes captured the british culture better than other film makers.

i dont think K-jo is a bad directer
nd i loved dostana
i am not against homosexuals
i have a lesbo in my class(ewww) i have to put up with her
but the movie was hilarious, i dont think anything in the movie could offend gay ppl
i think the movie showed how ppl nowadays dont have a problem with gay ppl- coz wen priyank let them live in the apartment even if htye were gay
i think no harm was done
nd the terrorism movie i think its an interesting concept with probably a moral behind it

I didn't mean to offend any fans, not Hrithik personally but his role in the movie... I mean the college scenes made his role overly dramatic.
