Kjo is still allowed to make movies coz
1) it is a free country 😊
2) he has the money ( he inherited his Dad's production company)😛
3) he has the right friends😉
4) he has a great PR and media relations😃
By making movies he proves the fact success and talent can be mutually exclusive...
😆
😆😆😆 ashu, you never seem to fail... 😆
actually, as a person, i do not think karan is such a bad person... and i do not think we can go to the extent of calling him talentless either... if he really was talentless, his movies would not work... he knows what most people want and he exploits that, it's quite simple... more than a filmmaker, i think he is quite the businessman.... i don't mind because frankly, i have come a long way to start caring about such things...
and why just blame karan for being power hungry and all about fame...?? isn't more than half the industry in it for the money and fame.... 😕 that imo, is quite illogical and really baffles me... 🤓
now if we look at some other 'off-beat' directors, even those i have problems with... for example, i had the nerve to watch Dev D by Kashyap (because people said he had the GUTS to make that movie and it was different, etc. and it was a hit, so i was curious, LOL)... and that was not only a crapfest but a sleazefest as well... so you know... what to do... only a few 'off-beat' directors have done justice to their stories, imo... i like Vishal's movie... i guess one can call him 'unconventional' but i do think he is also 'mainstream', i think those are the technical terms...
only reason i prefer karan over kashyap and a few others is because most of his movies i can watch with family WITHOUT having to be embarrassed (with the exception of KANK and Dostana)... and for the fact that he knows the love angle well and tends to bring out wonderful chemistry between his leads... i feel most directors have their faults, so i have stopped nitpicking... 😆
nkapoor, for me, i am not questioning his ability to direct BUT lately he his subjects have gone more and more, how to say it, more cut off from reality... and i do think he has become somewhat repetitive over the course of his films... reason why i can't watch the movies without fast forwarding half of the scenes... i only watch scenes i like, rest well, good old FF button... fact remains that it is not realistic and sometimes it goes over the topic, but as audience, even if we can related to a few issues, i think that what makes his movies work... and sometimes, sadly, it works because people have certain prejudices and they see it on screen, for example, dostana... it worked because of the certain prejudice that exists in people's mind about gay people... obviously, it is not correct but how many people would think about such things...?? not many, because most of the audience watches movies as a source of entertainment and to relax, not think...!
Even the most brilliant of scripts can turn into craptastic films, given the wrong director. Yes, a tight screenplay is the backbone of any film, but a director who lacks vision, creativity and inspiration will take a great script no where.
There are very few filmmakers in India who have evolved to the point of understanding sensitive issues and portraying them without making a mockery out of the situation, and sadly, none of them are known to the mainstream audiences.
completely agree with the first point... second point, i agree to most extent... i think most 'mainstream' directors are more focused on recovering the costs for the movies so they tend to be a little hatke from reality... and sadly, hardly anyone can portray sensitive issues without getting more than one fact wrong... there are way too many loopholes sometimes to digest... that's why in my earlier post, as i said, i don't mind as i take it as a piece of fiction... LOL... so i have tend to overlook this fact... needless to say, i have been majorly disappointed with the take on many sensitive issues so those movies in general, i tend to avoid, unless it comes highly recommended from certain close friends... 😳
I am not undermining his capibilities, but he seriously needs to come out the misconception that he has about NRIs (his target market) only appreciating gloss and glamour. Dude the NRIs dont go to watch your film coz of the concept or you, they go coz of SRK.😆
actually, it's not even a joke... it's quite true...! LOL... although, the movies have a certain appeal as most of his movies tend to be family oriented... and since most people being away from their families tend to relate to them, so it works, even if he uses one too many glycerin bottles... 😆😆
He has the best of actors to his dispense, he needs to start utilising them properly; he has SRK who is capable of delivering a power packed performance. One needs to just watch Kabhi ha kabhi na, Darr, Raju ban gaya.., and more recent Swades and Chak de..to see what a fine actor he can be if one is able to hone him in the right manner.
So KJo get out your green kuppa koffee and have a Koffee with Karan😉
good one... 😉
i would give benefit of the doubt to him and i do think he'll make a good movie in MNIK... well, it also is a little bit of my bias because of SRK but most of the times he does have the right sense about stories... (barring his paheli in recent times).... commercial cinema works mostly because people tend to go for entertaining movies, and i don't per say mind them... i have watched Main Hoon Naa way more times than i have seen Swades and Chak De... not because he did better in that but because it's a funny movie... LOL...
And what's this I'm hearing? Not only is he making a film on terrorism, but he's making a film on a character who suffers from autism? 😲😲
let's just keep our fingers crossed, shall we... 😉
