Sunny Deol is playing hard to get and his producers are not liking it
In Bollywood, it's not just an upswing that can make one heady and unavailable to co-workers but even a downslide can. Sunny Deol, the hot actor of the 1990's, is giving a tough time to his producers, who have been chasing the actor either for negotiating a deal or for getting back their signing amounts because their deals have fallen through, by remaining unavailable.
According to reliable sources, Sunny accepts calls only from approximately ten known numbers; and has barred unknown numbers from accessing his cell phone.
"To make matters even more difficult, he has cancelled the SMS facility from his phone; his company Vijeta Films doesn't have an email id; and his office refuses to accept registered ADs or couriers," says a producer, who has been chasing the actor since 2007 to settle some dispute.
Even producers like Pritish Nandy Communications and White Feather Films who have registered cases against Sunny with two trade bodies - IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association) and the CINTAA (Cine and Television Artistes' Association), are waiting for a direct audience with the actor, but so far they have been asked to hold on till May 14, 2009, when the actor returns from a shooting assignment.
A producer adds, "What is really frustrating is the fact that it is virtually impossible for anyone to establish direct contact with Sunny, unless he grants an audience. He neither subscribes to an SMS service nor does he pick up calls."
Naturally attempts to reach Sunny directly were futile. His spokesperson Vijay Grover said the actor was in London. However, he declined to comment on why Sunny chose not to receive SMS. Instead Grover suggested that those looking to reach the actor could call his secretary on the office landline; and she would communicate whatever is to be said to the actor.
One has heard of actors wishing to remain private; but Sunny sure takes being incommunicado to giddy lengths.
