Interview With Hrithik Roshan

After a long hiatus, Hrithik Roshan is ready for his next venture. Yes, it will be directed by his father Rakesh Roshan and he promises it will be thrice as big as "Koi...Mil Gaya".

Hrithik says his father made a film twice as big after "Kaho Na Pyar Hai" and now the next will be three times as ambitious as the hit "Koi...Mil Gaya", with more special effects and take him into a realm "where no leading man has been before".

Roshan senior has already finalised the script of the film which will begin, of course, with a 'K' and take off from where "Koi...Mil Gaya" left though it won't have alien characters like Jadoo. It will co-star Priyanka Chopra, Rekha and Naseeruddin Shah.

Hrithik says he has not signed anything else though he has been looking at scripts. Nothing else is appealing enough, he admits candidly, in an interview to IANS.

Is there a sequel to "Koi...Mil Gaya" on the anvil?
Yes, finally after eight-nine long months my father has finalised a script that will be three times as big as "Koi...Mil Gaya". He always does this. After "Kaho Na Pyar Hai" he made a film that was twice as big. It'd make life simpler for all of us if he'd just make something more manageable. But of course there's no fun and challenge in that, is there?

So what's it going to be?
We needed to take on a bigger challenge. That's what my dad is doing in his next. And it's scaring the hell out of both of us. It's going to be an even bigger risk than "Koi...Mil Gaya". It's going to go forward from where "Koi...Mil Gaya" left off. It won't have the same alien characters like Jadoo.

It will be the story of what happens to Rohit after the alien Jadoo gives him supernatural powers and goes away. It isn't really a sequel as such. Dad got an idea and it just seemed to flow from "Koi...Mil Gaya". We aren't making Part 2 of that film. It's a challenging idea and a humongous risk. Compared with this film, "Koi...Mil Gaya" was a baby step. The new film will be shot in Singapore, India and New Zealand.

Will it have lots of special effects?
Even more than "Koi...Mil Gaya". It's the biggest film we've produced so far. But let me add, we aren't consciously trying to get bigger with each film. We're doing what we think is right. Just like "Koi...Mil Gaya", this film will take me into a realm where no leading man from Indian cinema has ever been.

Have you been growing your hair for this film?
Yeah, I tried the new look for myself. Now I've decided to use that look in this film. Rohit in "Koi...Mil Gaya" was the most challenging role of my career. Just facing up to the challenge was so exciting. It never felt like hard work. I hope the same thing happens with this film. True, I give a 100 percent to all my roles. But sometimes it works out better than others.

When do you begin?
In March 2005 for a start-to-finish schedule. So far the principal actors are signed. Besides me and Priyanka Chopra, there's Rekha and Naseeruddin Shah. We need to finalise another actress to play Priyanka's best friend.

What will it be called?
The title hasn't been finalised. But obviously it will have a 'K' in it. I guess we'll have 'K' titles until Dad runs out of 'K' words in the dictionary.

Have you signed anything else?
Nothing yet. I've been looking at scripts. But nothing really appeals enough to sign on. There're talks about other films. But as of now, my dad's film is my only assignment.

i hear that in this new movie Hrithik Roshan and preity's characters from koi mil gaya die leaving behind a superpowered son (played by Hrithik) who is raised by his grandma (rehka) and Priyanka Chopra will play hrithik's love interest. oh and hritik has signed on to play the villian in Dhoom 2 along with ashwariya rai.
