I'd have to side with Ashutosh on this one. Why does it matter whether the jokes were about him or others? He was bothered by what was going on, and he took a stand. As far as I've heard, most of the industry is on his side.
In general, the quality of these popular award ceremonies has gone down the drain. Their purpose is to honor the stars, but they seem to devote more time to ridiculing. The hosts need to know where to draw the line. After a point, it all stops being funny.

The problem is not with the jokes (atleast not all of them) The problem is - Why are only people outside their own camp targetted? Personally I think its unfair how they keep picking on people whor unsuccessful. For eg, how they talked abt some actor KRK whose debut film flopped. Why not ever EVER talk abt Uday Chopra who has nothing but only flops to his credit?
Their so called joke on Neeraj Pandey on how Sajid should not beg him for anything as his clothes were pathetic was very rude. The poor guy later came on the stage and said "Gotta go, buy some clothes" instead of a Thank you speech for his award.
I agree with Suhana that after a point it just stops being funny!
